Here’s one for Angus.
Excellent piece in the Wall Street Journal today contrasting the outcomes of economic policies in Texas and Ohio.
It concludes:
So tomorrow the eyes of America will be on these two states moving in different directions. Ohio has an economy burdened by high taxes and work rules that impose heavy costs on employers. Texas embraces free trade, keeps taxes low, doesn’t impose unions on business and has tooled itself for 21st century global competition. Ohioans may not like to hear this, but for any company considering where to locate a new plant or move an existing one, the choice between Ohio and Texas isn’t even a close call.
The challenge for our national economy in a world of competition is to become more like Texas and less like Ohio.

It doesn’t matter how much empirical evidence is offered. Those who are suffering in Ohio would rather beg for someone to come in and save them from themselves, and there are plenty of politicos willing to contribute to their delusions. It’s all a Noble Ideal, doncha know and we mustn’t do anything to disturb the Ideal.

Well, as a libertarian with a practical streak – and a survival instinct – I’m registered as a Republican here in Texas, so “my side” of the primaries has already been decided for McCain, who was always my second choice behind Fred!, so I’m not feeling too bad.
Rush has given marching orders for us to vote for Hillary to defeat Obama, but I have a real moral objection – or several – to that. First of all, I think the Democrat Party ought to be allowed to chose their own candidate, second, there isn’t enough money on the planet to get me to cast a ballot for Hillary under any circumstances, third, it seems a bit like a point-shaving scheme to me, and… I could go on.
So, I’m going to practice guitar for a couple of hours this morning, do forty-five minutes to an hour on my Bowflex, and then jog six miles this afternoon. No polling places for me today, I’m awaiting the general election now.

If Hillary comes back and wins Texas today she has the nomination. RealClearPolitics has her in the lead now by a fraction of a point. She will win Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island and she is way ahead in PA. That will give her enough momentum to grab the super people and probably the Florida and Michigan delegates as well.
I listen to Rush quite often and I have never heard him urge people to cross over and vote Hillary in Texas today. He has discussed the fact that that is being urged but he usually doesn’t pull the trigger himself. Didn’t get a chance to listen yesterday but I am dubious.

Now I understand the Rush thing.
He has been doing that for awhile. That’s part of his parody thrust.
“Keep Hillary in it so we can win it.”
and
“Pimp yourself:Keep chaos alive.”
I love Rush. If you get the chance, try Glenn Beck. He has been playing the old Soviet national anthem when discussing Democrats, it’s really funny.
