“Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy. I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it’s on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue.
(Barack Obama, “On My Faith and My Church,” Huffington Post 14 March 2008)
That’s me in the corner
That’s me in the spotlight
Losing my religion…
Consider this
The hint of the century
Consider this
The slip that brought me
To my knees failed
What if all these fantasies
Come flailing around
Now I’ve said too much…

I’ve never seen that filmclip before.
Apart from the wonder of Michael Stipe having hair, it’s a beautiful work and a beautiful song.
And I love your snippet for Obama, Spot

Thanks, Nilk – it serendipitously came up on my iPod this arvo when it was on shuffle, and I immediately thought of Obama’s HuffPo piece – how sad is that?
It is a cool video though.
You know, I saw a picture of Peter Garrett with hair somewhere, He looks (almost!) normal.

Nah, never that. Not for Peter Garrett. Tim Blair has had the pics.
I’m not generally an REM fan; only know the hits, but it is pretty appropriate, though.

OT but a note for Swinish: I spent this weekend working on a shoot for Bronek Kozka. I just had to tell you, since you’re also on RedBubble.

“That’s me in the corner, that’s me in the spotlight, losing my religion” — what a perfect song for The Obamaman! He’s been using that guy as a “spiritual advisor” for 20 years and it sure helped him out in Chicago politics but now that he’s going big-time it’s time to _lose that religion_.
Good vid too.

Oh Bama! Deny your spiritual adviser before the cock crows three times, why don’t you?
