Nice one, bro! I’m a conservative Christian and a registered Republican who, like ‘Bama’s Gramma, gets a little wary when there’s a big black man or three walking towards me on a dark Chicago street, so I’ll count myself in to that “typical white person” club.

#9: I saw that post. I had a crawl around both here and those other two sites you told me about in your email, Blair and Bolt. I did like the Tim Blair site, I think I have some columns of his you’ve emailed me previous. That Bolt surely has some misguided lefties on there. There’s a couple of real superior souls who talk like they know everything about everything when it comes to the election and race relations and black folks, you be kind enough to keep them there in your hemisphere, you hear? We have enough chuckle-heads here already.
What I’m doing? Was just doing some work, then taking the kids to the Museum of Science and Industry. So I’ll let you get on to bed, you old man. Catch ya later.

Had yet another debate with a bunch last night. Usually, since I’m an expat, these debates are held along the lines of three or four against one. Debating three or four leftards at once does keep me on my toes, however. Good practice. Well anyhow, right at the end, when everyone had said their piece, out came the gold nugget, the gem, the chestnut; Capitalism sucks.
Why do I bother?
Because I must.
Won’t mention the Friday night one, except that one has to try and get folks to understand that lefties deal with how they think the world and everyone should be whilst Righties deal with the world and everyone in it as they are.
This is the true beauty of Capitalism. It harnesses our, despite whatever do-gooding people aspire to, greed and selfishness and thus elevates civilisation to a level far higher than noble socialism could ever achieve.

#23 Well good on you for trying, anyway. Sometimes when I keep countering myths and half-truths with unassailable facts, and come back the next day to find the same myths and half-truths being peddled, I feel like waving the white flag.
We just have to keep hoping that once in a while, one of our absolute quantitative facts will manage to find its target and sink in a little.
JD won’t mind me saying, he’s a black Republican so he’s at it almost all the time, but still he keeps trying. It’s all we can do.
