Australia’s Boy Wonder PM Kevin Rudd is off on his 16th overseas trip since he was elected 10 months ago. He’s been gone so often, a map has even been created to track his wandering ways.
Where is Kevin this week? Off saving the American economy! As Piers Akerman relates,
Late Friday, usually reliable Treasury sources claimed that Rudd had asked Treasury for five ideas on solving the sub-prime crisis he could take with him this week to the US and present in his talks to senior American officials.
The laughter, as this story was retold around Canberra dining tables, could be heard echoing across Lake Burley Griffin.
Action-Man Kev. For the past 10 months in Australia, he’s done nothing but watch - and now he has delusions that he can fly into New York and single-handedly solve America’s sub-prime crisis?
Can’t wait for another Zelig Rudd / Being There moment.

Maybe he’ll excitedly salute Ben Bernanke or Hank Paulson just before he tells them what they’ve been doing wrong all this time and how to fix it

That second link is a good one. Looks like the US knew it was coming but couldnt formulate anything to stop it.

Yeah, Mole, Bernanke had been warning about it for well over a year; McCain had been warning about it since 2005.

“For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac – known as government-sponsored entities or GSEs – and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market,” McCain said on the floor of the Senate in 2005, speaking in favor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005.
McCain pointed out Fannie Mae’s regulator had stated the company’s quarterly reports of profit growth over the past few years were “illusions deliberately and systematically created” by the company’s senior management, which resulted in a $10.6 billion accounting scandal.
The bill passed the House but was never brought up for a vote in the Senate, largely because of Democratic opposition to change in the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac regulatory structure that remained in place until the Treasury takeover two weeks ago.
And Kevin’s gonna fix it? Hehehe.

So glad you could prove my point John from West Virginia. Thank you. Now that you’ve spent an hour of your life browsing our site, would you like to make a point that actually has any basis in reality? – Ash

Ash – the commenter above (and his 20-25 other identities here) doesn’t even use a valid email address. His comments probably shouldn’t be published at all unless, as we suggested to him some time back, he (a) sticks to one sock puppet, and (b) uses a valid email address. No more of this

randomly-generated shit.
We’ve deleted about 30 of your sockpuppet spewings, idiot. And will delete the rest, too, until you start playing by the rules.
