Another wander down memory lane, a Deportation.

I go to Dubai.

 

I was selected to take back 2 gentlemen to Dubai. Both had dropped their claims for asylum and were being removed.

I was summonsed to the DIMIA offices and given my orders. Including all the phone numbers, names and flights I would be taking. I quickly scurried off to the bank and withdrew a large sum of cash, Id heard Dubai was the place to get jewelry and didn’t want to miss out.

The flight to Perth was fairly uneventful, however instead of a days layover it was straight on a jet to KL. By the time we reached KL I was knackered, Id been up for about 18 hours. We were met by DIMIA staff and taken past passport control into the security section of the airport. They dropped me off at the immigration lockup at KL and told me theyd be back in about 5 hours to pick us up for the second half of the flight.

Gang ransacks oldest Venezuelan synagogue

A gang of armed men has broken into the oldest synagogue in the Venezuelan capital Caracas and ransacked the building.

About 15 men tied up security guards and occupied the synagogue for five hours, desecrating scriptures and daubing slogans on the walls.

 

Hmm got me stumped who it could have been, maybe a bunch of Millitant Mormons, Savage Salvation Army troops or even Bloodthirsty Bhuddists.

Seriously, put me out of my misery.

This misery, like many, I’m guessing, started with a new toy. In this case, the toy was a HP C6380 all-in-one wireless printer/scanner/copier. I’ve wanted one of these for a while because a friend has one, and loves his, plus there’s nowhere close to my workstation for a printer, I have three computers I want to access it, and so there you are: I need wireless Well…

The DVD-ROM disk that came with the printer was defective – it rattled around in my optical drive for about FOUR HOURS to install 42 items – and I know from PREVIOUS NIGHTMARES that interrupting these problems often leads to even MORE trouble. So…

After getting my computer back from being held hostage by HP, I uninstalled all the software, trashed all the residual files I could find, and repaired my permissions. Then, I went to the main HP site and downloaded a disk image of the drivers I needed. And…

Only Word and Encore (My music notation program) would print: Mail, Safari, iPhoto, &c.? Nada. Not only that, but any FILE menue action cause ALL programs to quit. Then…

I figured the disk itself was damaged, and so I tried to repair it. Yup, the structure was fried, BUT SO BADLY IT COULDN’T BE REPAIRED.

So, my Mac won’t even boot up anymore – not in Safe Mode, not in Target Mode – and I lost a few months worth of work and a computer. Oh, and my OS X disk is stuck in the drive with no way to get it out short of breakling the computer to bits… which I do plan to do, just for spite.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhh!!!…
