PM vows no family will be worse off

KEVIN Rudd will spend $6 billion less compensating households for higher energy prices, however he has assured families that they will not be worse off.

I will point out why this is a lie, has to be a lie and why he should be called out on it.

basically for an emissions trading scheme to work it must coerce people to consume less of everything that requires energy to manufacture. The plan is to do this by increasing the cost of energy, both in the household (at the Powerpoint), and in industry, transport and shopfronts (the big freezers in Woolies dont run themselves you know).

If it doesnt make people consume less then as a policy its stated aim has completely failed. So it MUST make people spend more on less “items”. It cannot as a policy allow people to consume as much “stuff” as they do now.

The ETS bills also protect low-income families by ensuring they are compensated for 120 per cent of the costs expected to flow from the scheme.

 

So they can consume 120% more energy/items? This has to be a lie or the whole purpose of an emissions trading scheme fails. It can’t do both, you cannot promise people more “stuff” while at the same time adding a tax to discourage people from getting that “stuff”. It just defies logic, it can’t happen, it contradicts itself.

It has to be a lie, the tax is designed to reduce people getting more “stuff”/using energy, it does this by making “stuff” more expensive to produce via a tax.

The people that actually manufacture “stuff” will pass on the cost of the tax to people buying goods, meaning they can buy less.  Its not rocket science, either hes lying about the impact of the tax on the public (making “stuff” more expensive so you have less) or hes lying about just what the tax is designed to do, which is, make “stuff more expensive so you have less….

So that makes him a lying, smarmy little wax gobblin...

End of the Australian Liberal party?

Has Malcom toadying up to Kevin signaled the end of the Australian Liberal party as a viable political party? I know it’s certainly cost them my vote.

 

I dont know who the next conservative party will be, the Nationals are a bit to country based to have a huge impact on the largely urban Australian voting areas.

Malcolm has effectively gutted his own party to give Kevin Rudd a photo opportunity for Copenhagen. Even in the face of the leaked emails he has pushed his own party to accept a foolish deal.

At the same time he has allowed the ALP the means to fund the most enormous expansion of government patronage in Australias history. They now have access to a new consumption tax (indirectly) which they can assign wherever they wish. The lines of rent seekers must be around the block in Canberra today.

And all those rent seekers will be at the beck and call of the ALP, in effect Malcolm has subsidised an enormous band of political opposition against his own party.

I despair at the stupidity of this decision.

Id urge any of our Aussie readers (bugger it is your from overseas feel free to let them know they are dickheads as well), to use the following link to let the Australian Liberal party know they have lost your vote for good.

For me, theres nothing they could now do to entice me to vote for them again, they have shown themselves to be nothing more than another high taxing left wing rabble.

Climate Rage: The Bottom Has Fallen Out of Copenhagen

The continuing saga of Climategate has finally dropped both boots on Copenhagen, as The Times of London has pronounced the gathering a funeral.

“Exactly a fortnight from today, the United Nations climate change conference opens in Copenhagen. Its purpose is (or was) clear: to agree a successor to the Kyoto Protocol, which expires in 2012…

Mr Brown’s Copenhagen objective will, happily, not be achieved…

[T]he scientific basis for global warming projections is now under scrutiny as never before. The principal source of these projections is produced by a small group of scientists at the Climatic Research Unit (CRU), affiliated to the University of East Anglia.

Last week an apparent hacker obtained access to their computers and published in the blogosphere part of their internal e-mail traffic. And the CRU has conceded that the at least some of the published e-mails are genuine.

Astonishingly, what appears, at least at first blush, to have emerged is that (a) the scientists have been manipulating the raw temperature figures to show a relentlessly rising global warming trend; (b) they have consistently refused outsiders access to the raw data; (c) the scientists have been trying to avoid freedom of information requests; and (d) they have been discussing ways to prevent papers by dissenting scientists being published in learned journals…

[W]hat is clear is that the integrity of the scientific evidence on which not merely the British Government, but other countries, too, through the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, claim to base far-reaching and hugely expensive policy decisions, has been called into question. And the reputation of British science has been seriously tarnished. A high-level independent inquiry must be set up without delay.

It is against all this background that I am announcing today the launch of a new high-powered all-party (and non-party) think-tank, the Global Warming Policy Foundation (www.thegwpf.org), which I hope may mark a turning-point in the political and public debate on the important issue of global warming policy. At the very least, open and reasoned debate on this issue cannot be anything but healthy. The absence of debate between political parties at the present time makes our contribution all the more necessary.”

In effect, the global temperature trends have simply been made up. Unfortunately, the British researchers have been acting closely in league with their U.S. counterparts who compile the other terrestrial temperature dataset — the GISS/NCDC dataset. That dataset too contains numerous biases intended artificially to inflate the natural warming of the 20th century.

Finally, these huckstering snake-oil salesmen and “global warming” profiteers — for that is what they are — have written to each other encouraging the destruction of data that had been lawfully requested under the Freedom of Information Act in the UK by scientists who wanted to check whether their global temperature record had been properly compiled. And that procurement of data destruction, as they are about to find out to their cost, is a criminal offense. They are not merely bad scientists — they are crooks. And crooks who have perpetrated their crimes at the expense of British and U.S. taxpayers.

I am angry, and so should you be.”

Unburied bodies piling up in the city mortuary — it reached 70 earlier this year — is the latest and perhaps most appalling indignity to be heaped on the people of Detroit. The motor city that once boasted the highest median income and home ownership rate in the US is today in the midst of a long and agonising death spiral.”

Michigan’s Central Station, designed by the same people who gave New York its Grand Central Station, was abandoned 20 years ago. One photographer who produced a series of images for Time magazine said that he often felt, as he moved around parts of Detroit, as though he was in a post-apocalyptic disaster.

Then in June, the $21,000 annual county budget to bury Detroit’s unclaimed bodies ran out. Until then, if a family confirmed that they could not afford to lay a loved one to rest, Wayne County — in which Detroit sits — would, for $700, bury the body in a rough pine casket at a nearby cemetery, under a marker.”

I worked in Detroit, in some of the worst areas, for several weeks at a time on two separate occasions in 2000 and 2004. It really does have to be seen to be believed, so the TIME photo series they referred to above is here, in all of it’s horrible post-apocalyptic gory glory. “The biggest news story of the day is one that has barely begun to break and will continue to reverberate for months or years to come. Someone hacked into a computer at the University of East Anglia’s Hadley Climatic Research Centre, one of the main centers of anthropogenic global warming research. The hacker downloaded 62 megabytes of data from the server, consisting of around 1,000 emails and a variety of other documents. He uploaded them to an FTP server, where they were available to the public, apparently, for only a few hours. The event is described here.

Before the documents disappeared from that location, several people had downloaded them and posted them in other locations. I downloaded all of the material earlier today and have begun to review it. The emails are stunning. They are authored by many of the leading figures in the global warming movement: Michael Mann, James Hansen, Phil Jones, Keith Briffa, Stephen Schneider, and others. They are remarkably candid; these individuals talk to each other with the knowledge that they are among friends.

The emails I’ve reviewed so far do not suggest that these scientists are perpetrating a knowing and deliberate hoax. On the contrary, they are true believers. I don’t doubt that they are sincerely convinced–in fact, fanatically so–that human activity is warming the earth. But the emails are disturbing nonetheless. What they reveal, more than anything, is a bunker mentality. These pro-global warming scientists see themselves as under siege, and they view AGW skeptics as bitter enemies.”

Spoilt Brats at UCLA Protest Results of Policies They Voted For

California is the US’ first “failed state” in the financial crisis, and the University of California system has had to absorb real, actual budget cuts. As a result, they are having to raise student tuitions more than 30%. Of course, these students, none of whom seem to have ever taken an economics course, are not happy about it. That lead to a near riot at UCLA t’other day.

The protests have now spread to other campuses in the system.

“Los Angeles, California (CNN) — Students were occupying buildings Friday on campuses of the University of California system in protest of a 32 percent tuition hike.

Students took over portions of buildings on campuses in Los Angeles, Berkeley, Santa Cruz and Davis late Thursday, and two remain occupied Friday morning.

Student organizers said they would escalate their protests after the system’s regents approved the tuition hike during a meeting Thursday on the UCLA campus.

University officials said the $505 million to be raised by the tuition increases is needed to prevent even deeper cuts than those already made because of California’s persistent financial crisis.

Protesting students said the hike will hurt working and middle-class students who benefit from state-funded education.”

Yes, when there is a budget shortfall – because of policies the voters voted for and their representatives enacted into law – the school administrators have no right to raise prices to keep the schools afloat. Anyway, these retard protestors are being arrested right and left now.

“Authorities arrested dozens of angry students at the Davis campus late Thursday after they refused to vacate the school’s administration building.
