A study that claimed 650,000 people were killed as a result of the invasion of Iraq was partly funded by the antiwar billionaire George Soros.
Soros, 77, provided almost half the nearly $100,000 cost of the research, which appeared in The Lancet, the medical journal. Its claim was 10 times higher than consensus estimates of the number of war dead.
The study, published in 2006, was hailed by antiwar campaigners as evidence of the scale of the disaster caused by the invasion, but Downing Street and President George Bush challenged its methodology.
New research published by The New England Journal of Medicine estimates that 151,000 people – less than a quarter of The Lancet estimate – have died since the invasion in 2003.
“The authors should have disclosed the [Soros] donation and for many people that would have been a disqualifying factor in terms of publishing the research,” said Michael Spagat, economics professor at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Soros is a scumbag.
/Ash being nice.
Soros is a complete oxygen thief who has taken advantage of the capitalist system all the while complaining about it, and repays the society which has helped him do so well by calling the soldiers that defend his freedoms murderers.
/Ash still being nice.
There’s nothing I can say about the guy that’s quite strong enough…

As if the Lancet’s methodology weren’t reputation-soiling enough, this disclosure about Soros should do the job. No reason to believe anything they ever publish again.

One of the best arguments for returning to a gold standard, a gold/silver standard, or a mlti-metal standard for world currency is that currency-speculator filth like Soros would not be able to exist.

Amen Angus Dei! Ditto, here here, you betcha, etc.
This man’s activities are truly amazing, at least what is reported. It makes me think that we are seeing only the tip of the iceberg.
And Ash, you are much too kind.

Salty, I couldn’t think of anything strong enough for Soros.
I suspect you got the nicest of my opinions from my above opinions.
He’s such a ()%*#)(*%@)U%!!!

Watch your language around the baby!
And yes, I think that describes Soros very nicely.

You’re quite right. I must be more ladylike.
Although I did describe the child’s attitude to teething well.
