“My Name is Gladiator” – Maximus

I fucking love this movie! Just watched it again… for about the umteenth time.

Honor among men… as men. Shit like that is virtually lost in today’s world. There ought to be more movies like this. I never tire of watching it.

That is all.

I like that movie too, even if it is an historical atrocity.

  2. Ash Says:

It’s a fucking cool movie, I’ll give it that!

Well yeah; it’s just a great story, not a historical documentary. You just know that similar things happened throughout history, though.

I liked the WW I ethos, wherein soldiers respected and saluted one another, even when they were on opposing sides. Soldiers are cool. They fight for their LAND, their PEPOLE and their CULTURE, irrespective of the political network.

Actually, I think the present generation is doing quite well… if only the scum-sucking, assmaggot-out-of-hell, shyster-politicians would let them do their jobs.

I think the life of one soldier is worth more than a million lawyers… but that’s just me.

I’m with you guys. I love this movie, too, and have lost count of the number of times I’ve seen it.

    Same with 300.

However….I do love Mrs Betty Bowers’ (from the Landover Baptists) review:

Using men with bulging biceps, bulging chests and, well, things that were bulging that no Christian woman should ever have thrust in her face, Gladiator will do more for homoerotic Christian mayhem than anything since Caligula first sashayed into the Colosseum. Gladiator, a film that manages to be crafty without craft, is littered with offensive antifamily propaganda and a level of vulgarity not commonly seen outside of Nevada. But what do you expect from a movie featuring an emperor called “Commodus” — Latin for “toilet”?

  5. Angus Dei Says:

Did Betty ever review 300? I’m sure that would be a hoot, because comparing Gladiator and Caligula is simply insane.

I have the 300 DVD but not Gladiator. I need to fix that.

“I do love Mrs Betty Bowers”

I checked that site out. It drags everything American/Christian/Western through the dirt, except for Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright. Couldn’t find one sendup of their colorful antics.

Also, it’s really not very funny. There’s an endless flow of foul-mouthed and absurdly inaccurate invective (as long as its directed at anyone who’s standing in the way of the new messiah and his friends), zero cleverness or originality.

    IOW…a waste of bandwidth.

  7. nilk Says:

Dave, I just love her film reviews. The rest of the site I’ve never bothered with.

Mind you, these days I do get tired of all the christian-bashing that is so acceptable when slagging off women, blacks, asians, muslism, satanists, disabled people, and sometimes even blondes isn’t.

    And I mean really tired.

I loved Gladiator and 300 (in fact bought the 300 DVD). Movies are meant for entertainment, and to be entertaining they sometimes have to take liberties with actual history. I don’t care. I like action movies if they’re well done. Sometimes I think I’m a teenaged boy in an old lady’s body.

  9. Ash Says:

The teenaged boy in Ohio should team up with the teenaged boy in Melbourne, and we’ll go blow shit up for no good reason.

    It’s fun!

  10. Rebecca H Says:

    Sounds like a plan, Ash.

Well, SAY something...
