So, I was strolling through the Robert McMahon cyber-gallery, and I thought “This is the kind of art we really need. Screw the pretentious, I’m-so-good-because-I’m-an-artist types. We need more like this guy.”
Not only can he paint extraordinarily well, but he’s creative in all kinds of fields.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you: Lyle‘s art gallery!

Lyle? Our Lyle, the poet laureate of the webosphere?
The paintings are excellent! Just as I envied his way with poetry, now I have to envy his skill with the brush.

Naturalism, if one prefers, Realism has always fascinated me. As I was told, I had all the talent, what I lacked was the drive. Therefore as the Art Nazi said…No Art For You.
My hurdle was, not seeing on paper, canvas or any other thing, what my mind’s eye did see. Don’t know the exact term, but my take was and is perfectionitis de novo extremist. One could also call it cowardice…LOL.
My daughter has pictures of me winning art competitions. What those pictures don’t show (how they did that, I’ll never know…lol) were the art instructors holding a gun to my back and telling me to smile.
Lyle, just absolutely stunning.

Jesus, Joseph and Mary. That’s just so unfair. I was stunned like Tizona.
(Speaking of whom…who would have thought there would be such a sensitive soul struggling to express itself from within that rugged exterior. Stop fighting it, Tiz! Go to the first bunch of flowers you see and you paint, sir).

I shall Sir D.
Dunno, if The National Park Service will like it, but paint those little devils, I will.
lemme see
ladd…Nope, won’t need one, can opener, several brushes, paint coveralls. Can’t use spray cans, would piss Al off 🙂July 17, 2008, 3:11 pm at 3:11 pm
This could turn into an art blog. We can link to Lyle, or he can come and join us. You can paint too, it seems, Mr T. We’ve got 1.618’s photography, Angus Dei’s music. Ash is planning some street performance art in a cage, I believe. Now, what can I do? I know – criticize!
July 17, 2008, 3:56 pm at 3:56 pm
One in every crowd, Sir D…LMAO.
But yes, OUR Blog will go in many directions, if we ALL choose.

OR majority does so…Addendum: 1794, from L. neut. of addendus “that which is to be added,” ger. of addere. Plural form is addenda.

Wow. Actual art. You know, the kind of thing that requires an understanding of color, light, and perspective – and real actual technique and craftsmanship – not to mention talent, of course.
I’m guessing it will be widely ignored.

Love the chook. Now the missus wants it for the kitchen….

The Beef of God will supply the musical side of the arts. I guess I will finally have to post pictures of my sculptures, and I am so shy.
Yes, this could be an arts blog after all.

We hardly have cred as an “arts blog”. None of us are demanding money off Kevin oh Seven!
Rebecca, I knew you’d be surprised and pleased at this one.
July 18, 2008, 9:37 am at 9:37 am
Ash, I’m getting money from the government, does that count?
Also, it looks like a film I worked on a few years back is finally getting a release.
Trailer here.
This blog’s pretty good – we cover ALL sorts of things.
Hope you don’t mind my linkwhoring – about to disappear into the world of children’s birthday parties again. Bleh.
See you sunday!

#10 “Yes, this could be an arts blog after all.”
I’m not artistic in the slightest. 😦 But I could be your audience? Like Will Rogers says, “We can’t all be heroes; somebody has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by.” 😉
July 18, 2008, 11:27 am at 11:27 am
Yes Rebecca, it’s time for you to post a sculpture or two!

Nilk, I’ll watch it if that’s Kevin Rudd they’ve got strung up in the shed.

Ash,
Thanks for the attention. I had no idea. Now feel guilty that I haven’t put up any new pieces in a while.
September 2, 2008, 11:21 am at 11:21 am
Lyle, you’re most welcome.
Your paintings are amazing. When I’ve finally got all the bills paid off I may have to buy one or two of them.
I particularly like “The Sound”. I’m a fan of nice, big, open areas of water. Although Cardinia Reservoir has it’s scary bits.

“We can’t all be heroes; somebody has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by.”
Im with you Spot.
Top stuff Lyle. Any chance of a painting of Sarah Palin beating up Chuck Norris?
No? Oh well it was worth a try…
