Melbourne: Super Cool Reservoirs; Super Cool Bushland

My quokka and I went off on another mini-adventure today, and headed down to Melbourne’s Silvan Reservoir to see how full it’s looking. Silvan Reservoir is actually the reservoir that is responsible for cleaning and distributing water to the general public, and therefore rather important in the grand scheme of things.

And here’s how it’s looking:

Don’t you just want to dive in and go for a swim? Perfect!

One trait Melbourne has with it’s reservoirs is to not only build the dam, but to landscape much of the ground around it and have barbecue areas and playgrounds to make them ideal locations for family picnics. Not only that, but areas of natural bushland are set aside and have walking tracks built through them.

So here’s what the forest surrounding Silvan Reservoir looks like:

Incredibly beautiful, and in fact, rather serene. Partly helped by the fact that directly below where I took that photo is a water outlet which forms a little creek.

    I’m, uh, sorry Yojimbo.

So I shouldn’t post a photo of the beach?

Or the “soft hail”, ie, snow, in Sydney?

Post away. We have broad shoulders down here. Pictures of those special beaches that Australia is noted for would be appreciated.
