The ABC does something right!

They actually interviewed someone worthwhile (ABC radio isnt as bad as the TV in many cases)

Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a woman with more testicular fortitude than many political leaders.

For those who dont know of this lady, she is currently under a death sentence for criticising islam. In this radio interview she puts foreward her arguement extremely well in a short time.

A world split apart….Alexander Solzhenitsyn

The novels and essays of the Russian writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn [1918-2008] eviscerated the moral foundations of Soviet rule. But his Harvard address of June 1978 confirmed that the core of his intellectual project was a spiritual rather than political one – and that the west’s failures were just as much in his sights.

The split in today’s world is perceptible even to a hasty glance. Any of our contemporaries readily identifies two world powers, each of them already capable of entirely destroying the other. However, understanding of the split often is limited to this political conception, to the illusion that danger may be abolished through successful diplomatic negotiations or by achieving a balance of armed forces. The truth is that the split is a much profounder and a more alienating one, that the rifts are more than one can see at first glance. This deep manifold split bears the danger of manifold disaster for all of us, in accordance with the ancient truth that a kingdom – in this case, our Earth – divided against itself cannot stand. . Meet Brigadier General H.R. McMaster

This is huge, huge news. General David Petraeus is finally reforming the US Army from it’s fossilized cold war stance into a nimble asymmetrical warfare organization by promoting colonels to general officers based on merit and combat experience. Col. McMaster is only one on the list of new BG’s who have cut their teeth and shown extreme resourcefulness in asymmetrical warfare, but he’s one of my personal long-time heroes in this current war on terrorists (I read several millblogs, but I never ever comment there because I’m a pencil-neck civilian, even though my dad was a USAF colonel).

Colonel H.R. McMaster, now a BG!

Colonel H.R. McMaster, now a BG!

This is one tough hombre; one bad-ass mofo. Isn’t “McMaster” the coolest of all possible names for an American warrior? He’s not alone on the BG list either, which reads like forty yards of combat-hardened fucking barbed wire.

Now, if the shit-ass shyster-politicians – inferior scum, all – will just get the hell out of the way and let these guys do the jobs God created them to do, I’ll sleep perfectly well at night, thank you very mucking futch.

From the Are You Shitting Me, archives…comes, Tyson Plant Drops Labor Day for Muslim Holiday

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. — Workers at a Tyson Foods poultry processing plant in Tennessee have opted to trade a paid Labor Day holiday for the Muslim celebration of Eid al-Fitr.

A recent 5-year contract approved by members of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union at the Shelbyville, Tenn., plant includes the change to accommodate Muslim workers.

“The negotiating committee made the holiday a top priority in contract talks,” the union’s Alabama and Mid-South Council Representative Randy Hadley said in a June statement. “And we were able to get management to commit to it.”

The change, which does not affect the company’s 118 other plants, exchanges Labor Day for the Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan. The new contract, negotiated last fall, also gives Muslim workers a prayer room.

“Eid al-Fitr is one of eight paid holidays for all Team Members covered by the contract, while Labor Day is not a paid holiday,” Gary Mickelson, Tyson’s media relations director, told the Shelbyville Times-Gazette.

The seven additional paid holidays are the employee’s birthday, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, Mickelson said.

Tyson officials said that approximately 250 of the plant’s 1,200 employees are Muslim Somalis. Many, the union said, entered the United States as political refugees — among them, Abdillahi Jama.

“This new contract is good because it allows me to work on the second shift and still pray when I need to,” Jama said in a press release. “It’s very important to us, and the Eid is one of our most sacred holidays. It shows how the union helps us.”

News of the change has prompted some anger on local Web message boards, with some writings urging readers to contact the AFL-CIO and boycott Tyson products.

The union’s national president, Stuart Appelbaum, said it was the union’s job “to stand up to win respect for every worker’s right to practice their faith.”

Tyson officials said the contract was agreed to by 80 percent of the union’s 1,000 members at the plant.

This year Eid al-Fitr falls on Oct. 1.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Boycott Tyson Foods! Minority Rules!

UPDATE:

Members of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) and Tyson Foods workers at the poultry processing plant in Shelbyville overwhelmingly voted to overturn a union contract that replaced Labor Day as a paid holiday with the Muslim festival of Eid al-Fitr, it was announced this morning.

The new agreement will increase the number of paid days off for workers in the current calendar year to include both Labor Day and the Muslim observance as paid holidays for workers in the Shelbyville plant.

Received this email, from Alec Rawls last evening. It concerns Blogs posting on the Flight ’93 Memorial, which this Blog has

WordPress Blogs seem NOT to be affected, hopefully it will stay that way. Because of the below email, I’m going to become a bit more strident, (he he he) on my E-Blogger site with Obama AND the Flight ’93 Memorial, just to see what occurs. God, I do love confrontation…I really do. Brings a smile to my other wise sullen face. 🙂

Google’s “spam blog” filter flagged my blog earlier this year, but a human being looked at it in a couple of days and determined that, even the same blogburst posts are showing up on quite a few sites, this is individually posted information, not spam. If they were being efficient, they would note that the same conclusion applies to all blogburst participants, and they don’t have to keep going and looking at every blog that gets flagged on this. Just clear the blogburst as a group. Still, it is not too surprising if they are not that advanced.

The only new bit that sounds worrisome is that blogs are actually being blocked. I got a notice that I was being investigated, but was never actually blocked.

Perhaps they are just trying a more aggressive approach, or it could be they are being political, as I heard seemed to be the case with some blocked Obama bloggers.

If Google doesn’t fix this, let me know. Maybe we can make some blogburst noise about it.

My reply was YES to both.

Democrats Throwing Up Scarecrows and Bogeymen. They always do, they’re cowards

So, can we get by without new domestic exploration in previously forbidden locales? While it’s the argument of many Democrats (though cracks are starting to show in their previously firm phalanx against the notion, as we saw in Speaker Pelosi’s desperate escape from Dodge on Friday to avoid a vote or debate), it doesn’t hold up to scrutiny.

Al Gore’s goal of ending our dependence on fossil fuels in a decade is a worthy one. But the notion that it is a realistic one is ludicrous, misguided references to Apollo aside. And their mantra that drilling now wouldn’t result in new supplies on the market for ten years is nonsense on stilts, as anyone familiar with the industry would tell you. Existing platforms off the coast of California, dormant for a quarter of century or more, could be producing again within a year or so, and even new ones could bring oil to market in less, often much less, than ten.

Pajamas Media

This absolutely ridiculous argument, the old, tired “ten to fifteen years”, has been used in this nation, for the past 30 years or so. Drilling for our own oil, isn’t the only thing it has been used for…Nuclear Power, is the other.

Yes, Three Mile Island and Chernobyl aided the left in their argument…but the fact remains is that the U.S. has MANY nuke plants up and running, with no, ZERO problems. OUR new technologies and even Russia’s, which was truly frightening, have improved to the point of making nuke power as safe as it can be.

If people are truly frightened concerning “radiation”, I suggest they stop going outdoors…That shiny thing up in the sky, radiates. That nice tan that all want, (I don’t have to worry, I’m protected by a thing called olive oil…well, at least to a certain degree….lol.) is produced by that shiny thing that radiates.

2000 acres in the named ANWR region of millions of acres, will not hurt a damn thing. Offshore drilling, scary huh? There are more damn shark attacks in our oceans and Gulf waters then oil spills and leaks. By the logic used by the left, we should ban sharks, stingrays and the like.

Technology to turn coal, into oil. Nope, can’t do that. China is. China will also be drilling not that damn far off coastal Florida, what happens if that gets screwed? Who will the Left blame? Why of course the U.S., NOT their brethren in ideology, China.

My idea to catch and kill those sharks that just will not listen, is to use Democrats for bait, then kill those sharks, that don’t get it. This includes using all persons connected with PETA. (usually radical Democrats)

Had WE started this, the very first time, someone uttered the old “ten to fifteen years”, this nation would have already been as free as we could be, against those greasy, filthy, rich Islamists and South Americans (that means you, Hugho) that sell oil to us and still preach and act on hatred of America through wars on civilization, in the most cowardly way.

Morgan Freeman seriously injured in car crash

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman was hospitalized in serious condition Monday after the car he was driving left a rural road in the Mississippi Delta and flipped several times.

Freeman, 71, was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., about 90 miles north of the accident in rural Tallahatchie County.

The actor “has a broken arm, broken elbow and minor shoulder damage, but is in good spirits,” according to a statement from Donna Lee, Freeman’s publicist. A hospital spokeswoman said Freeman was in serious condition but would not discuss his injuries.

My Day’s Made

Paraphrasing a comment made at Bolta’s:

Dear employers,

When the recession starts to bite, can you please fire all the “Your Rights At Work” union types first? They don’t want to be there anyway.

That cracked me up. It’s a fair request!

Variety of Factors Contribute to Progress in Iraq, General Says

WASHINGTON — A combination of factors is responsible for the improved conditions in Iraq, the commander of coalition forces in the northern part of the country said Aug. 3.

Hertling said the coalition’s troop surge, Iraq’s security forces, national and provincial officials and the population’s rejection of violent extremism all have contributed to a sharp decline in violence and allowed for economic progress.

The surge did much to improve security in Baghdad and other regions, he said, and “Sons of Iraq” citizen groups have assisted Coalition and Iraqi forces in the security effort. At the same time, he said, Iraq’s army and police forces have continued to mature.

“There is an increasing capability of the Iraqi Security Forces,” the general said. “They have grown tremendously, even in the 11 months we’ve been here. The capability of the Iraqi Security Force has certainly contributed – both the army and the police. The Sons of Iraq are part of the security elements in the northern provinces, and they have helped in some areas like Hawijah, Samarra, and some other places.”

In addition, Hertling said, the Iraqi government and the country’s provincial governments “are starting to get their act together and providing jobs for people.

“This fight we’re having right now is not over yet,” he said. “There’s still a lot of al-Qaida in our area. They have all come to the northern provinces from Baghdad and the west, and we continue to have to drive them and pursue them so that they quit fighting, give up or we kill or capture them.
