And St. Augustine said at three months. We don’t know.”
Personally, when a religion involves itself in politics, it should lose the corporation sole tax exemption. Then again, this is the U.S. and they should be able to voice their opinions, but as we know, taxes are completely different from “freedom of speech”. Just ask the IRS.
On the other hand…I like who the church targets 🙂

The RCC doesn’t “target” its members because of their politics; it calls out incorrect theological beliefs of people who have chosen to become members of the RCC. No one is forced to become a RC. If you don’t hold the fundamental beliefs of the RCC, choose another church. There are plenty out there.

Even the Catholic Church has had enough of this secularist, political-elitist stance. Religious practicing people from all walks would do well to understand that a clear message is being brought down by the Archbishops: “Your political persuasion and power can get you only so far. This castigation is a test (jihad) for the two Dems to seek more into their inner conscience and determine what is worth fighting for more: their ego-driven desire for status, or the desire of their souls to do what their God expects of them?” This message should apply to all people of religions living in secular nations.
For the past decades secularism has been chipping away at religious belief, and yes, by design. I wonder if these two politicians have the gall to call these Archbishops ‘extremists’ or ‘fundamentalists,’ as Muslims have these titles attributed to them simply for wearing a head scarf or growing their beard.
Muslims in the U.S. were once attracted to the Republican Party, they espoused a belief in God (even if it wasn’t always practiced). The right and obligation to create and maintain strong family ties was more congruent with the anti-gay and anti-abortion stances of the right.
Now that a certain group within the ‘right’ has wronged the world and the nation on many levels; Muslims and believers of other faiths seem more attracted to the Democrats. The fact is, both Republicans and Democrats are of the same coin.
They compliment each other to make a whole secular, two-party nation (which is by far a true example of democracy). In an upcoming article, I will attempt to discuss this topic further.
I suppose that after they’re finished with helping to destroy Muslims around the world (with their silence), these top-level Democrats, the Speaker of the House and Obama’s Vice-Presidential candidate, are going to show the Catholic Church and other religious institutions that the US of A will not stand for that religious “mumbo jumbo.” It’s a shame that the leaders of the ‘free world’ are not so enthusiastically welcomed in their own religious circles. 5pillar.wordpress.com

I will come out now as a believer that says: abortion should be safe, legal, and rare. I do not believe unborn potential life can supersede the actual life already here. On the other hand, I don’t believe abortion should be another innocuous medical procedure for birth control, or gender pick.
Anyone who’s never had to make this horrendously difficult decision can kiss my ass. You can tout your moral high ground, but you don’t really know what you’re fucking talking about.

Religions believe in things, otherwise they aren’t religions. The Catholic Church teaches that abortion is murder, based upon the idea that, “He knew us all from the beginning; before the foundations of the world.” Also, that human life is sacrosanct, and that the beginning and ending of it is the sole business of God (Which is the Catholic rationale for opposing the death penalty as well: God didn’t kill Cain, He made him live with the murder he committed). I’m not a Catholic, I’m an LCMS Lutheran, but we believe the same things.
If you do not believe in or practice the fundamental beliefs of the religion you subscribe to, that religion has the right to criticize you, deny you communion, shun you, or even excommunicate you altogether from the body. No government of free people has any legitimate business interfering in the process at all, even if politics or politicians are the targets.
Aside from being a raging non-Catholic, Pelosi is excrement as a human being on virtually every level. No shepherd of the flock of the Christened Son of the Living God in his right mind would give her the time of day, much less communion.
What little realist there is inside of my idealistic self recognizes that abortion ought to be available to the victims of rape, incest, and in cases where there is mortal danger to the life of the mother. The idealist that I actually am, however, can’t help but point out that none of these situations is in any way the fault of the baby.
