The West Australian Crime Files #6

Forget the election; forget the economy.  We gots serious crime happening here in Western Australia:

Man charged for couch towing

An 18-year-old man has been charged after a report of a vehicle towing a couch in Gooseberry Hill yesterday.

East Metropolitan Traffic Police have alleged that the man was driving a Holden Commodore sedan on the Zig Zag Scenic Road around 11.30am towing a sofa with two youths sitting on it.

A crowd had gathered to watch, with one person filming the event on a mobile phone.

The Kalamunda man has been summonsed for reckless driving.

Good to see our police are keeping busy.

    Ah, the “Fun Police.”

Can’t have people having any fun. Why, they might forget that there are starving children in Bangladesh, or something.

Pigs ought to be told to sod off. Sounds like a laugh riot to me. Good clean fun.

(Yes, I’m suffering from insomnia, and have had too much beer).

Sure, it’s a little bit stupid, but normal people would just tell them to take it off public roads. It’s not like you don’t have enough wide open flat spaces in WA.

Would have been a blast whilst it lasted. Still, if anything had happened, the ambulance chasers would have had a field day.

It’s not like Zic Zac Road in Gooseberry Hill at 11:30 on a Saturday morning is downtown Sydney in rush hour or something, Ash. 🙂

I got a frisson reading that – not that we ever got up to anything like that, but back where I grew up, if we had ever done anything like that, and if the Sheriff had caught us, as long as we hadn’t been underage drinking or anything (he was a stickler for that!) he probably would have had a good laugh and maybe given us some tips on how to make it more aerodynamic.

Angus is right: fun police; and Bingbing is right: fear of liability. Pooh. I’m glad I grew up where & when I did!

  5. Ash Says:

We’ve got paddocks for that stuff over here in the East, and the cops can’t do four-fifths of fuck all about it.

BTW, the road is Zig Zag Road, not Zic Zac. The reporter got it wrong on that one.

…and my cut ‘n’ paste has compounded the error…

BTW, do you know how many videos there are for “couch race” out there? LOL.

  7. The Wizard of WOZ Says:

I laughed out loud when i read that in todays ‘Worst Australian’. I just wish the cops were more interested in the retards that populate the highways and freeways here in Perth.

I’m in far too good a mood to give any examples right now, lets just say some people shouldn’t be allowed to breathe, let alone drive.

  8. Western Australia is crazy dangerous « The Tizona Group Says:
