Now the good news for Republicans…

In comments on another post, some of us were discussing how (generalising here) far-Lefties tend to  be a pretty gloomy and angry lot.  Whilst having full sympathy with the families involved in the recent HuffPo murder/suicide, it’s hard to avoid the question Confederate Yankee raises:  “I wonder how much eight years of the self-induced hysteria we know as ‘Bush Derangement Syndrome’ and the requisite feelings of impotent rage and looming oppression fed into her existing problems. ”

Now in my inbox, courtesy of my little sister, comes this article from The Tennessean“Republicans are happier than Democrats, study finds.”

WASHINGTON — Now the good news for Republicans: You are happier than Democrats. You always have been, and you probably always will be.

Never mind that your presidential candidate is sinking in the polls while your president plumbs historic depths of popular scorn and your free market squeals for intervention while your investments evaporate on Wall Street. You are not just happier than the other guys, but more of you are very happy indeed, according to new survey results published last week by the Pew Research Center.

The partisan happiness gap — unbroken for nearly four decades — is impervious to electoral ups and downs. It has something to do with worldview.

Government-funded researchers identified the happiness gap in 1972. Since then, the Democrats have been comparatively more bummed out not just during the tenures of GOP presidents Ford, Reagan, Bush and Bush. They were noticeably less joyful than Republicans even during the GOP fiasco of Watergate, and during the Democratic Carter and Clinton administrations.

This year, when things seem so rosy for Democrats, the joy gulch yawns wider than ever. The fraction of very happy Republicans has never been so much larger than the very happy Democrats.

(Full story here.)

The study found that Democrats are more likely to say that success in life is mostly determined by outside forces. Republicans lean toward thinking that success is determined by one’s own efforts.

Those who think they can control their destinies and that they themselves are mostly responsible for their own success are happier; those who think they have to depend on someone or something else outside their control to shape their destinies are less happy?  Sure, it’s somewhat simplistic, but it makes sense to me.

That’s why, even if McCain-Palin don’t get up next week, I don’t think my fellow Republicans will sink into the same kind of mindless seething rage and self-induced hysteria that we saw take over so many Leftists during the Bush years.

Sure, if Obama-Biden are elected and the government starts doing stupid stuff which makes it harder for us to get on with our lives, it’ll be frustrating; but because for the most part we know that we as individuals and families and communities, and not Teh Gubmint, are responsible for making sure we go as well as possible, I think most of us will be putting our time and energy into getting on with things rather than spending the next four years in mindless hysterical BDS-type Obama-Rage.

What really gets me is that “This year, when things seem so rosy for Democrats, the joy gulch yawns wider than ever. The fraction of very happy Republicans has never been so much larger than the very happy Democrats.” Does that mean that even if they get their Messiah into the White House plus control of the House and the Senate and all that that entails, they’re still going to be unhappy, unpleasant grumps?  Judging from the number of still-bitter, still-unpleasant, still-constantly complaining comments I see from Australian Leftists almost a full year after Australia replaced 11-1/2 years of conservative government with Kevin the “progressive Christian Socialist,” I’d say so.

UPDATE: And conservatives girls are prettier, too!

Our girls are prettier, too ;-)

UPDATE: Because this is an older graphic, I need to add Sandra Bernhard (left) to their side and Mary Katharine Ham (right) to ours.  Any more suggestions welcome.

And don’t forget Governor Palin!

UPDATE:  Ash provides more evidence, and it’s not just our girls either.

UPDATE 2:  Not just prettier, but happier too!

UPDATE  3:  And Republicans are not all boring.  From an earlier post by Angus:  “What do Darth Vader, Dirty Harry, John McClain, Magnum PI, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Sammy Hagar, Kid Rock, Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, Leann Rimes, Richard Petty, Dale Ernhardt Jr., 50 Cent, Karl Malone, The Rock, Kathey Ireland, Heather Locklear, Marie Osmond, and Rachel Hunter all have in common? They are Republicans, along with others totaling 86 in this story.”

That’ snot funny!

Yet another airhead celebrity mistakenly thinks we care about her opinion, and comes out swinging against Sarah Palin:

Jamaican-born disco diva Grace Jones said … she “can’t stand” folksy vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The 1980s style icon, now 60, told German magazine TV Spielfilm Wednesday that Palin stood for a backward vision of America laden with government restrictions of sexuality and social behaviour.

“I can’t stand Sarah Palin. I bet a woman like that has no sense of humour.

In reporting this on his blog, Andrew Bolt posts the following picture of Grace Jones and opines,

Oh, I don’t know. I’m guessing Palin would laugh as much as anyone to be dissed by a woman trying to look sultry with boogers up her nose.”

Epic LOL! HillBuzz, a Pro-Hillary Site, HATES Obama!

Get a major load of HillBuzz. They really. really hate Obama over there, and they’re all a bunch of Democrat party members. It’s a WordPress blog, so you can share some love if you want.

Obama is in big trouble, but the DemSM and the pollsters they own are covering for him. It’s just so blatently obvious now.

Take a look at this post in particular, which was taken from their comments.

“Ok, I want to clear my conscious a little. Hopefully you could make a blog post to help some fellow clinton supporters out.

I work for a campaign and can’t wait for this week to be over.

I was doing it for a job. I was not a fan of any candidate but over time grew to love HRC.

The internal campaign idea is to twist, distort, humiliate and finally dispirit you.

We pay people and organize people to go to all the online sites and “play the part of a clinton or mccain supporter who just switched our support for obama”

We do this to stifle your motivation and to destroy your confidence.

We did this the whole primary and it worked.

Sprinkle in mass vote confusion and it becomes bewildering. Most people lose patience and just give up on their support of a candidate and decide to just block out tv, news, websites, etc.

This surprisingly has had a huge suppressing movement and vote turnout issues.

Next, we infiltrate all the blogs and all the youtube videos and overwhelm the voting, the comments, etc. All to continue this appearance of overwhelming world support.

People makes posts to the effect that the world has “gone mad”

Thats the intention. To make you feel stressed and crazy and feel like the world is ending.

We have also had quite a hand in skewing many many polls, some we couldn’t control as much as we would have liked. But many we have spoiled over. Just enough to make real clear politics look scarey to a mccain supporter. Its worked, alough the goal was to appear 13-15 points ahead.

see, the results have been working. People tend to support a winner, go with the flow, become “sheeple”

The polls are roughly 3-5 points in favor of Barack. Thats due to our inflation of the polls and pulling in the sheeple.”

Highly anecdotal, but it fits the pattern, doesn’t it?

Confession Is Good For The Soul

Imagine how hard I laughed when I came across Richard Sharpe’s heartfelt missive about how bad he feels that so many people save up their pocket money (allowance, to you Americans) to buy clothes that he gets free from the taxpayer. How hard he laughed, when they were 1/255th darker/lighter than last years’ fashions.

I can see his point. It’s always cracked me up how people will pay $100 to look like they’re brave enough to wear an army uniform, when they can enlist for free, get paid, and get the uniform for free in return for a bunch of courage and some really, really, really hard work and sacrifice, yet spend between $75 and $100 for a single pair of pants with a camouflage design on them.

Can someone please explain?

Hats off to Richard!

Obama’s Auntie Lives in a Boston Slum

So, his half-brother George lives in a tin shack in a Kenya ghetto, and now we find out, from a paper abroad, naturally, that Obama’s aunt lives in a run down Boston flat.

“Zeituni Onyango, the aunt so affectionately described in Mr Obama’s best-selling memoir Dreams from My Father, lives in a disabled-access flat on a rundown public housing estate in South Boston.”

But wait, there’s even more…

“A second relative believed to be the long-lost “Uncle Omar” described in the book was beaten by armed robbers with a “sawed-off rifle” while working in a corner shop in the Dorchester area of the city. He was later evicted from his one-bedroom flat for failing to pay $2,324.20 (£1,488) arrears, according to the Boston Housing Court.”

Obama is happy to sell books in which he describes these colorful characters that are part of his family, but when it comes to helping them out financially, no fucking way; he’d much rather have Joe the Plumber, you, and I do it.

What a disgrace Obama is.

Another Guitarist for McCain: Aerosmith’s Joe Perry

Regular readers know that both The Nuge and I are for McCain, but this endorsement of McCain by Joe Perry came as a total surprise to me.

I had no idea he was “a lifelong Republican.” I went to a music school in Boston, and I can’t remember ever meeting a Republican the entire time I was there… but I met Joe once, so I guess I did, I just didn’t know it.

It seems The Jawa Report have subscribed to the Macho Sauce YouTube channel. I don’t have a YouTube account yet, so I can’t do that. Anyway, here he is again. It’s kinda long, but he brings up some of my favorite points, including that class envy is covetousness, and so is sinful. I love this guy.

The closing credits include links to other black conservatives, and the music is his metal band, Twenty Pound Sledge. Enjoy.

For our American readers

What does ‘girt’ mean?

Stubbies; wear ’em or drink ’em? One or the other? Neither or both?

Which is the “more illegal” way to use your garden hose? Bong or intended use?

When you root for your team, what exactly does that entail? Explain what “root” means, in an Australian context.

Translate: Dazza and Shazza played Acca Dacca on the way to Maccas.

Do I like you more if I call you a total bastard or when I call you just a bit of a bastard?

In what context do Australians say ‘cobber’?

Let’s hope this situation changes

Perhaps some of you have heard that North Korea recently (re)iterated that it will (re)turn the South into debris.

They’re pissed off about political activists in the South distributing ‘propaganda’ leaflets, via balloons, into the North. El Baradi hopes they’ll return to the six-party talks. OooooK. The South Korean government says it won’t stop people from expressing their freedom of speech.

Meanwhile, after 10 years of the Left-wing Sunshine Policy (under which the North developed a nuke), initiated by Leftist president, Kim Dae-jung, and ramped up by fellow Leftist president, Roh Myoo-hyun, this disastrous scheme (of propping up the North Korean regime under the guise of ‘aid’) has come to an end with Conservative President, Lee Myung-bak finally putting the squeeze on the so-called Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

And about time, too. Take this account, from a defector, for example. Here’s a few excerpts.

“People eat rats and snakes. They were the best food to recover our health,”

One inmate, Choe Kwang Ho, sneaked away from his work for 15 minutes to pick fruit. He was executed, his mouth stuffed with gravel to prevent him from protesting…

If a female inmate got pregnant, he said, she and her lover would be shot to death publicly. Then, An said, prison guards would cut open her womb, remove the fetus and bury it or feed it to guard dogs.

(And from the same link)

Meanwhile, President Bush has made the push to crack down on rights abuses in North Korea one of his last missions before leaving office in January. He signed a law promoting the U.S. special envoy on North Korean human rights to ambassador and making it easier for refugees from the North to settle in the U.S.

Lee Myung-bak and George W Bush are right. More pressure must be applied.

Bing thinks this regime must be crushed. And what better timing whilst Kim Jong-il is ill.

Please read this (large PDF) comprehensive report from David Hawk of the U.S. Committee for Human Rights (or severe lack thereof) in North Korea.

And a bit of extra background…

UPDATE:  Some Australian lefties react … predictably.

Holy Shit! Uber-Feminist Elaine Lafferty Likes Sarah Palin!

Dude! Elaine Lafferty is the former Editor in Chief of Ms. magazine. She’s a Democrat, she’s pro-choice, and she spent some time on the campaign trail with Sarah Palin. Guess what she entitled her article about the experience? Sarah Palin’s a Brainiac!

“It’s difficult not to froth when one reads, as I did again and again this week, doubts about Sarah Palin’s “intelligence,” coming especially from women such as PBS’s Bonnie Erbe, who, as near as I recall, has not herself heretofore been burdened with the Susan Sontag of Journalism moniker. As Fred Barnes—God help me, I’m agreeing with Fred Barnes—suggests in the Weekly Standard, these high toned and authoritative dismissals come from people who have never met or spoken with Sarah Palin. Those who know her, love her or hate her, offer no such criticism. They know what I know, and I learned it from spending just a little time traveling on the cramped campaign plane this week: Sarah Palin is very smart…

Now by “smart,” I don’t refer to a person who is wily or calculating or nimble in the way of certain talented athletes who we admire but suspect don’t really have serious brains in their skulls. I mean, instead, a mind that is thoughtful, curious, with a discernable pattern of associative thinking and insight. Palin asks questions, and probes linkages and logic that bring to mind a quirky law professor I once had. Palin is more than a “quick study”; I’d heard rumors around the campaign of her photographic memory and, frankly, I watched it in action…

For the sin of being a Christian personally opposed to abortion, Palin is being pilloried by the inside-the-Beltway Democrat feminist establishment. (Yes, she is anti-abortion. And yes, instead of buying organic New Zealand lamb at Whole Foods, she joins other Alaskans in hunting for food. That’s it. She is not a right-wing nut, and all the rest of the Internet drivel—the book banning at the Library, the rape kits decision – is nonsense. I digress.) Palin’s role in this campaign was to energize “the Republican base,” which she has inarguably done. She also was expected to reach out to Hillary Clinton “moderates.” (Right. Only a woman would get both those jobs in either party.) Look, I am obviously personally pro-choice, and I disagree with McCain and Palin on that and a few other issues. But like many other Democrats, including Lynn Rothschild, I’m tired of the Democratic Party taking women for granted. I also happen to believe Sarah Palin supports women’s rights, deeply and passionately…

But here is the good news: women, citizens of America’s high and low culture, the Economist and People magazine readers, will get it. They got it with Hillary even when feminist leaders were not supporting her or doing so half-heartedly. Yes, Palin is a harder sell, she looks and sounds different, and one can rightfully oppose her based on abortion policies. If you only vote on how a person personally feels about abortion, you will never want her to darken your door. If you care about anything else, she will continue to intrigue you. As Time’s Nancy Gibbs noted a few weeks ago, quoting bioethicist Tom Murray, “Sympathy and subtlety are seasonings rarely applied to political red meat.” Will Palin’s time come next week? I don’t know. But her time will come.”

Wow. This is nigh unto earth-shattering. Like I’ve said for years, radical leftist feminists using pro-choice as a litmus test for membership in their cause, some parts of which I support whole heartedly, only hurts their overall mission. It seems that some of them are finally getting that.

Y’all Are Racist Rednecks

Well, that seems to be the overwhelming sense I get from the comments on this article, about two white-supremacist dickheads who are being charged in the US for a plan to murder 102 black people, and also Barack Obama.

Some highlights:

As bad as terrorists.. But oh they are white!!! they cant be bad right?? i wonder how the media will cover this one up

So that’s why it’s being published in the Herald Sun… a member of the media, right? As a giant, hide-it-in-plain-sight thing. Gotcha. By the way, I don’t recall the massive media coverup of the Oklahoma City Bombings just because Timothy McVeigh was white. I guess I’m wrong though.

I hate to say it, but it does not look good for Obama. I am a US citizen living in Australia and I have already sent in my absentee vote ifo Obama. During my trips back to USA, I do see that dark aspect of the culture which comprises Neo Nazi groups, KKK and other extremists. I have said all along that Obama must update/increase his security status to avoid assassination attempts. I believe that he is the right choice BUT these radical groups will always be after him.

It does look good for Obama. Polls have him miles ahead, and he has overwhelming media support simply because he’s part-black. Neo-Nazi groups are under constant surveillance, and rightly so. However, the KKK is not going to lay a glove on Obama; after all, he is their party’s Presidential candidate. As for radical groups always being after him, these groups are highly irrational. They will target whomever they think will bring them the most notoriety and attention.

Biden is a Pussy, Part Two

Plugs can’t take any heat, and if he gets any, he takes his ball and goes home. This makes two.

Get that? Within minutes of the end of the interview, serial liar Plugs Biden told the Obama campaign to freeze out this news station. This is the kind of shit we have to look forward to under an Obama-Biden administration. Dissent and criticism won’t be tolerated, it will be crushed by the heavy hand of government.

Typical leftist shit-sacks.

Like I’ve Been Saying for Months: The Polls are a BS Plot

Check this out.

“I was having dinner a night ago with a friend of mine who is a statistician for a well-regarded private polling company. They do some work for Republicans in California, but most of the work they do is for Democrats or Democrat-leaning operations (Unions, etc.). Anyway, her shop was retained to do a few Presidential polls for targetted states on behalf of a union so the union could decide where to spend their ad dollars for the last week. They did Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada and Missouri. After mocking the hell out of the voter id spreads used by Rassmussen, Zogby, etc. (and this is coming from a committed Dem who will be voting for Barry O) she said the results of their polling lead her to believe that McCain will definitely win FL, OH, NC, MO and NV. She says Obama definitely wins New Mexico. She said that Colorado and New Hampshire were absolute dead heats. She said she thinks there is a 55% chance Obama holds on in Pennsylvania and a 75% chance McCain wins Virginia. She absolutely laughed at the public polls showing Obama leading Virginia–and pointed out that all of those polls rely on Dem turnout being +4 and as much as +7, when in 2006, Republicans actually had the advantage by +3. She also pointed out that the numbers for Obama in SWVA look absolutely awful and that McCain is running 10 points better then Allen did in NoVa.

Anyway, her companies conclusion is that the election will come down to Colorado, New Hampshire and the Republican leaning district in Maine, which in her opinion might very well decide the Presidency (apparently the district in Nebraska that Obama thought he might be able to get is now off the table). She said she has very little doubt that the public polling is part of a “concerted voter suppression effort” by the MSM. She said IBD/TIPP was the only outfit doing public polling that was “worth a bucket of warm piss”.”

Like I said, not only is the DemSM involved in an effort to suppress Republican voter turnout, but the DemPollsters are in cahoots with them as well, and ACORN is trying, clumsily, to outright steal this election for Obama.

My question is this, when McCain-Palin win and the Obamabots – who have been lied to and have super-high hopes – are so disappointed that rioting breaks out in the inner city areas of the US, do you think the DemSM, DemPollsters, and ACORN colluders will accept any responsibility or take any blame? The question is obviously rhetorical.

I have my voter registration card out, and am ready to vote in one week and one day. DemSM, ACORN, and lying pollsters be damned.

Hello L,

please take your time to read and understand this email as it contains the details of plans and requirements to conclude this venture. {PRIVATE} Thanks for your response to my email requesting your assistance to conclude this transaction. There is no risk what so ever, as regards this money.

But the most important thing is that I do not want this money to go through the bank around here, It will not be safe for us, I have a very good, trusted and reliable diplomatic courier that can send goods easily through diplomatic and private military way, to anywhere in the world.

We must be kept a low profile as a result of the amount in question. People are dying here, and I pray each day to make it out of here alive!!! I need your help because I don’t have any body I can trust now.

There is no risk going to jail, if you follow to my instructions carefully. The funds in question was realized from oil proceeds,” Oil money” as fondly referred to by the merchants out here.

I can make arrangement to deliver the Candy’s to any address of your choice. The baggage will be tagged diplomatic documents, and the courier company, will not know the contents of the boxes.

A few friends have used this means to convey goods, without being checked because of the diplomatic immunity they enjoy. Their charges are very high, but I will negotiate a way out from this end, till it gets to your door step anywhere and I will follow up immediately and meet with you for disbursement after you have received it.

I am very sure you will know the best way to handle this money for us when it gets to your base. Please let me have an address where you want them to deliver the Candy’s. As soon as I get it, I will start making arrangements to ship at once. If we are lucky and fast enough, we can conclude this within the next one week.

I will send the total since I can not take any chances by keeping cash on me. Your percentage still stand’s at 40% as assured in my last message. What do you do for a living? Are you married with kids? Can you handle these funds? I will also want to see your ID proof i.e. driver’s License so I know who I am dealing with; I will send mine on receipt of yours. We need to build trust ok!!!!!!

It’s just me and a colleague that knows about this transaction from this end, so try and keep this between the parties involved. Please if you know that you are not capable of handling this huge sum, and then don’t allow me to ship it, as we have done everything possible to make this a reality from this end. I can always find other means of dealing with it. But the truth is that I have prayed over this and my spirit suggests that you are the right person, so don’t let me down.

You have to keep in mind at all time, the need for confidentiality and absolute secrecy before we conclude this transaction.

So phone conversation is not a safe measure in this endeavor. Remember to keep our secret secret.

I cannot call you on the phone or receive fax, as I am not always in the office as a result of my operational schedule. I hope you are ok with this? Everything must be done by email. Will you still help? I need your

urgent reply in this regard.
Thanks and God bless.Your Buddy,
Sgt. Joey Jones Armand

Black Again?… Or, Red This Time?

So, I’ve decided to leave the desert isolation I currently live in for the big city – my old home town of San Antonio. Currently, I drive this truck:

It’s great for out in the country – that’s my best bud Brian when we were out hunting in Virginia a couple of years back – but it’s too big for a “city truck”… plus, it’s a 2003 and I have nearly 100K miles on it now, so it’s time for a new pickup.

Well, Dodge redesigned the RAM 1500 for 2009, and it looks really, really cool. That brings me to the problem: Do I want another black truck, or should I go with a flashier red one? I’m one of those old school truck purists; there are only two colors possible for a proper truck – red or black.

Here’s the new design in black:

Of course, the first regular cab versions Dodge gave to the automotive journalists are the 2WD R/T models. That’s the HEMI powered hot rod. I’ll want the 4×4 Sport with the new Cummins 4.6L turbodiesel (Thirty MPG highway!), so it will sit a little higher, but still have the cool one-color treatment, like my current ride. I’m not going to lift this one and put big tires on it, but I will put a tonneau cover on the bed to hide my musical equipment under.

Here’s the thing: The black looks properly massive for my Quad Cab, but the red is pretty fetching for the smaller regular cab:

See what I mean? Since I live with my trucks for five or more years, this is an important decision!

Ok this is a long one (said Mr Holmes to the new actress)

I found out Mr Ayres, Obamas “stranger who he never knew” has his own blog.

I just wasted a couple of hours of my life trawling through it and turned up a few nuggets.

It appears his commitment to non-violent action has increased hugely as he has come under more scrutiny, however he has been silly enough to leave a number of more ambigous statements in his earlier posts on the blog. I cant realy comment on his teaching methods that much as I dont know much about it, however I did highlight a couple of bits that seem rather jarring.
