PETA-philes at it again, the gall of this woman.

The Peta-philes are at it again, Ingrid “face like a smashed crab” newkirk has written a piece for the Guardians “comments are free” section. Obviously she was hoping for a surge of support, however word is beginning to leak out about Petas disgusting track record on animal welfare.

One last cuddle before the green dream eh?

One last cuddle before the green dream eh?

UPDATE: [Beef] Well, Bing Mole, I meant Mole! and I are on the same page today! In related PETA lunacy news, they have asked the iconic 80’s band The Pet Shop Boys, to… change their name. I shit you not.

“LONDON, England (CNN) — Just because they named their new CD “Yes,” does not mean that British electro-pop duo, the Pet Shop Boys, will agree to just about anything.

PETA has asked the Pet Shop Boys to change the band’s name to Rescue Shelter Boys.

The band has turned down a request from an animal rights group to rename itself the Rescue Shelter Boys.

The organization, the People for the Ethical Treatment for Animals (PETA), sent a letter to Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe acknowledging that its request, at first blush, might appear “bizarre.” [I love unadulterated understatement – Beef]

But, by changing its name, the band could raise awareness at every tour stop of the “cramped, filthy conditions” that breeders keep animals in before selling them to pet stores, PETA said in its letter.

The duo, which has performed under its current name for more than 20 years, reproduced PETA’s written request in full on its Web site.

The musicians said they were “unable to agree” to the request “but nonetheless think (it) raises an issue worth thinking about.””

Not only can’t you make this stuff up, but things like this are totally impervious to satire and lampooning… because they’re so mind-crushingly stupid. I now return you to your regularly scheduled post.

More below the fold

Many, many people with good intentions have been sucked in by this narcissist and her self promoting organisation.

Before I Fisk her article here’s some facts on Petas animal welfare record.

PETA’s “Animal Record” report for 2008, filed with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, shows that the animal rights group killed 95 percent of the dogs and cats in its care last year.  During all of 2008, PETA found adoptive homes for just seven pets.

Just seven animals — out of the 2,216 it took in. PETA just broke its own record.

From this site here, highly recommended if this is your first exposure to some of the lies trotted out by Peta.

T0 put that into perspective my other half used to do voluntary work with an animal rehousing group in a small city. They rehoused somewhere around 500 dogs in their first year alone.  Our little dog is a bitzer from a Karratha (1000km away)  from a rescue mob up there..

And given that Newkirk has this written on her organisations kids info page, she must surely be one of the most brazen slags to walk the face of the earth.

No law regulates how pet stores must dispose of animals, and some stores have been caught killing unsold dogs on the premises. Shelters are only able to find loving homes for some of the animals they receive, and the rest are euthanized, so for every animal sold by a breeder, one dies at the shelter.

Imagine writing something like that while your own organisation kills over 90% of all animals that fall into its clutches?

Of course they will plead poverty, cries that ring rather hollow as they have an income of somewhere around 33 million a year, not to mention their humble headquarters…

Ego central

So I’m afraid that excuse don’t wash either.

Without further ado he res Newkirk at her half truthful best.

Peta recently made a tongue-in-cheek request of the Pet Shop Boys, asking the band to change its name to the “Rescue Shelter Boys”.

Because that’s about the closest you ll find to wit from the group that brought you the debacle that was “sea kittens”.

The plight of these animals should make any kind person think twice before buying from a pet shop. These shops are businesses, and they aim to make money.

Which would also suggest to me its in their best interests to have their stock healthy, happy and disease free….

Most animals sold in pet shops come from breeders who keep their “stock” in cramped, filthy cages in windowless rooms, viewing them more as breeding machines than as living beings with needs and emotions.

I call bullshit, people who run puppy mills are generally despised by most dog owners, for a pet shop to use one extensively would alienate a large segment of their buying public.  That line should read “some animals” not “most animals” to suggest otherwise is a slander on a lot of small businessmen.

Experts estimate that for every wild bird that reaches a pet shop, three others die while they’re captured, confined or transported.

Nice selective use of facts there Petard, what about the vast bulk of birds reared for ownership? Or was the “one in three WILD birds” line  just to good a figure to go past?

Animals in pet shops are commonly kept in cages or runs that are far too small to meet their needs.

Bollocks again, the majority of animals kept in the pet shops Ive visited appear to have adequate space, or is there some pachyderm stuffed in a broom closet I missed?

With the way that animals are casually acquired like toys and then just as casually abandoned these days, there is no good reason to support an enterprise that views animals as commodities to be bred and sold.

Hagbreath has half a point there, however she seems to miss the point that if i pay $1000.00 for a breed of dog I’m probably going to take a great deal more care of it than a well meaning “cat lady” looking after 500.

Rehoming an animal who is down on his or her luck is very rewarding for everyone involved and eases the burden on animal shelters. Almost every breed of dog is available through rescue groups, and wonderful mixed breeds of every sort are dying for new homes. It may take a few more phone calls and a little more effort to rescue an animal than to pick one out at a pet shop, but by giving a home to a truly needy animal, you can help disrupt the cycle of abuse that’s inherent in the pet trade.

Her tongue should turn black and drop out of her moth for shame at writing that last piece. THOUSANDS of animals killed by Peta every year without even a cursory attempt at rehoming. Id have a little wager that the few dozen that were rehomed were “Breeds” adopted by Peta members and friends…

However the bit that gives me heart is that even on what should be a very easy site she is still called to account over her organisations death dealing.

Brought to you by PETA the same people who routinely kill stray dogs / cats and dump their bodies in rubbish bins ..the same people who have funded terrorists like Rodney Coronado …hypocrisy X a million ….

PETA has been “euthanizing” countless thousands of animals the way George Bush used to euthanize the mentally handicapped.

What a fine organization – LOL!!!

WRONWRIGHT!!, the super sekrit democrat euthanizing squad was supposed to stay quiet!!

A highly committed lot who obviously care so deeply about animals.

Yes, that’s why their “shelters” have the highest kill rates of any organisations.

Nice to see some sanity even among the wretched hive of villainy that is the guardians comments page.

So I take it you don’t like PETA?

  2. thefrollickingmole Says:

Not overly fond of them no.
They pretend to be animal welfare but are really just a bunch of extremist fruit loops.

  3. spot_the_dog Says:

Andrew Bolt had a column last month which attracted well over a hundred comments on the subject:

“Dog of an animal rights group”

PETA, the animal rights extremist group, is busier protesting for animals than actually helping them:

PETA’s “Animal Record” report for 2008, filed with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, shows that the animal rights group killed 95 percent of the dogs and cats in its care last year. During all of 2008, PETA found adoptive homes for just seven pets.

Just seven animals—out of the 2,216 it took in. PETA just broke its own record.

So emblematic of the modern Left, which so often judges on seeming, not doing.

Urge y’all to read it, and try to find time to read all the comments as well. I (Tgordon) among othrs had a few choice words for some of the Petaphiles)

[gotta go back 2 bed, catch y’all later]
