Michael Jackson (Updated)

Just saw a snippet of one interview where he said this was his most important song, the song we should listen to. Poor man probably died of a broken heart. So here you go, Michael.

UPDATE: [Beef] Tough day, yesterday. M.J. was a guilty pleasure of mine because, as far as pop goes, it was all just so well done. Let’s not forget that he turned the music video – little more than a marketing gimmick previously – into a fifteen minute short-form story telling vehicle.

Thriller, Part 1:

Thriller, Part 2:

And, let’s not forget that Farrah Fawcett also passed yesterday. Yeah, I had a thing for her in ’77 when “the poster” was such a hit.

RIP and Godspeed to both.

Am I the only human alive who just doesn’t care? Seriously, what the big deal here?

  2. The Wizard of WOZ Says:

    whats*…

  3. nilk Says:

Nah, Woz, you’re far from alone.

From the so wrong it’s right file and received via email yesterday (doesn’t take long, does it?)

On his deathbed, Michael Jackson asked that his ashes be mixed through a box of Corn flakes.
That way he’d be sure to pass through a ten year old’s arse one more time.

Oh, and what does Michael Jackson have in common with Collingwood? They’re both black and white, off the rails and die midwinter.

As far as I’m concerned, his best music was behind him, and he was living in cloud cuckoo land. He definitely had some issues, and I’m way over the bleating and wailing and gnashing of teeth.

He was a creepy man, and I feel for his children.

And that, kids, is the importance of the word ‘for’.

  5. bingbing Says:

Either way, he had a huge impact for a lot of people. Worthy of a post.

Now where the hell did WOZ send his Sunday Brunch pic?

He was living proof that genius in one area (not my taste in music, but huge in most circles) can leave you crippled in others. Einstein had weird tastes in his ladies (including a cousin), there are many examples.

And just to lower the tone a little more.

Q: Whats the difference between Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson?

A: Farrah was wanked over by thousands of boys, while Michael….

(Im fianaly back from having my brains stuffed with facts…. straight back to work though)

Watch and listen to both videos, note the differences. Not just in Michael’s appearance, but in his behavior. Note too that one was done before he was burned taping a commercial for Pepsi, the other after.

That is the difference. He was badly injured and had to undergo extensive reconstructive surgery. He was a handsome young man. He was a confident young man. After the incident he lost his confidence, his self assurance. Where once he was ready to face the world, now he would turn away from it.

He changed his appearance because he couldn’t stand the way he looked now. He changed his behavior, how he acted, how he dealt with the world, because he had learned fear. Everybody learns they are not immortal at some time or another; Michael Jackson learned of his own mortality in the worst way possible, and it shattered him. No one took the time to put him back together because they didn’t think it was necessary, and so a life was destroyed and a future ended.

What happened to him was a tragedy, one that affected many people. His relations with young boys is one example of this, there are probably others. Now he’s dead, suicide by enabling. In Thriller we can see the promise, in Childhood we hear a man on his way to self-destruction because no one will take the time to learn that he needs help. He asked for understanding, but we’d much rather condemn. He asked for help, but we wouldn’t take the time to listen.

He never really recovered from the burns. Not emotionally. The pain the brought tore him apart, and in time killed him. That is the story of Michael Jackson, let us all take its lessons to heart.

Almost nobody gets that. There was Michael Jackson before the pyrotechnic accident, and then a completely different person after. For me, Michael Jackson will always be the guy from before the accident, and that person after the accident wasn’t him anymore.

People scratch their heads wondering why he got so bizarre with the makeup and plastic surgery. Well, duh, he was disfigured in a fire, and was never able to come to terms with his appearance afterward.

    • bingbing Says:

Then again, Hetfield managed to pull through after a terrible pyrotechnic accident. Sure, it took about 10 years, Metallica’s biggest selling album’s continued success, mega-stardom, and finally rehab, followed by more successful albums and tours…

But he did it. Others did it.

      So tragic Michael didn’t.

I was trying to think of my favourite MJ song this week, he contributed so much! Maybe Thriller!
