1,000,000

Well, it’s taken a tad under two years. And quite honestly, I don’t know how we did it. We only have barely a few posts per day, if any. Virtually no one links to us (and we link to many).

Yet somehow, this weekend, we’ll have hit the 1,000,000 mark. As Sammy Davis JR said, “That’s a thousand large ones.”

If someone actually is reading this – and you’re not an Iranian or leftist looking for porn – on behalf of everyone at Tizona’s, we would like to thank you.

It’s been a tumultuous ride (just check out SiteMeter if you don’t believe me). For starters, the bloke who started the blog, isn’t even here any more. Stuff like this happens when you have a whole bunch of “editors”, no paychecks, and no central office. LOL, it’s almost as if we’re a microcosm of a functioning socialist entity, methinks sometimes. And with no central office, we’re probably helping to fight man-made global warming more than all of the global, jet set preachers.

And no advertising, not even a tip jar – how could we possibly be capitalist, right-wing neo-bastards… and bitches? Hmmm. But it’d be a nightmare dividing up the revenues, especially if we became seriously popular. And Gus hates lawyers, so no going there. And besides, whilst not trying to sound like feral hippies – well hippies at least – we all do this for fun in our free time.

No seriously, we’ve thought about it. Just who gets what of the revenues would be Elm Street. Some whiz kid could maybe work it out, but his/her fees … er, you get what I mean.

But, anyway, back to upheavals, er, that “tumultuous ride”.

First up, the bloke who founded this blog, El Cid, is no longer with us. Sounds ridiculous right?

Ho hums aside, as someone who wasn’t here at the beginning, that was the first upheaval this blog took, for better or for worse (and it was great to hear from El Cid on Facebook, though).

Although I personally wanted El Cid to stay (and others disagreed, whilst others agreed), in hindsight, a group blog was stymieing him… whatever your personal thoughts on Cid are.

But that was nothing come January 15 this year. We lost Ash. We lost our administrator. We lost a friend. We lost someone many on the Net loved/love dearly. It was extra hard for us. Us getting that email from her next of kin was… And not a day goes by when we all think about her, and her family, I’m sure. And it was extra hard for me. I was going to move back to Australia to be with her.

Even harder was everything wasn’t as cracked up as it seemed to be.

But life moves on, and we all move forward.

And so did Tizona’s. And, although they dropped-off quite a bit, we kept getting a decent amount of hits.

And we kept going.

Personally, I think Tizona’s has a great bunch of authors who present a unique variety in posts. There’s Angus Dei, the Beef of God (the idiot savant from Texas, lassoing leftists …oops! is that not PC?). There’s The Frollicking Mole – who woulda thought he was a miner at one stage, and with a sense of humour – who loves nothing better than to fisk. Then there’s Nilk, who stepped up to the plate, providing the glue we feared might melt away. And there’s others, who maybe don’t post so often, but who are always welcome to, and who I hope still read us… including my brother, who I found online at Blair’s one day. It was good to hear him talking not as my brother, and vice versa I’m sure.

We’re often described as a conservative blog, and, sure, we often side with the conservative viewpoint. Yet, I’m not sure we are really. Some of us believe in God, some don’t (I think), some are Agnostic. For example, wiki’s closest description of me is neo-libertarian – kinda like a conservative but take out the religion. Mole isn’t exactly a choir boy. And Gus has even described himself a libertarian… which according to wiki makes him a raving lefty… which he ain’t as far as I can tell.

Ho hum. All this right vs left vs wrong.

Regardless, I think I can speak for all of us to say, again, thank you, and second, that we hope you continue to find this an entertaining, informative blog offering unique perspective, presenting the heavy issues yet without being too heavy.
