Who’s defending Polanski?

Following on from Angus’ post here regaurding the Polanski rape case an interesting detail which is threatening to become a major scandal in France.

Frédéric Mitterrand the culture minister was one of the first major political figures to defend Polanski, stating

“To see him like that, thrown to the lions because of ancient history, really doesn’t make any sense.”

Mitterrand continued with a jab against the United States: “In the same way that there is a generous America that we like, there is also a scary America that has just shown its face.”

Just the same as theres a generous face of an underage Thai boy prostitute [link – bing]on your scary face you old perv?

Its a little unusual in France as most politicians lives are “off the record”, but public revulsion with pedophilia, and the Ministers own autobiography might see him come unstuck.

Nice little "come hither" look dont you think?

More under the fold

Now the man is openly gay, thats not an issue, what is an issue is lines like these in the book he wrote.

“I got into the habit of paying for boys … The profusion of young, very attractive and immediately available boys put me in a state of desire that I no longer needed to restrain or hide”…

The 2 news stories are slightly different, but does this sound to you like the sort of creep that should be in charge of your culture ministry?

“All these rituals of the market for youths, the slave market excited me enormously … the abundance of very attractive and immediately available young boys put me in a state of desire.”

Mitterrand said he was shocked by the controversy and it was an “honour” to be “dragged through the mud” by the extreme right, but the Socialists should be “ashamed” of following suit.

It is wonderful in both controversies to see lefties get a look at those who are holding themselves up as the “new men”, those enlightened betters who feel they know best, and seeing the corruption within. To the Lefties credit the French socialists, and the right wing Le Pen have all called for his head.

“..Jean-Marie Le Pen’s extreme right Front National led called for Mitterrand’s resignation, starting an online petition. The party leader’s daughter Marine Le Pen, who is an MEP, detailed the book’s contents in a TV debate describing the culture minister as “an indelible stain on the government”. A spokesman for the Socialist party, Benoît Hamon, launched his own attack, saying: “As a minister of culture he has drawn attention to himself by defending a film maker accused of raping a child and he has written a book where he said he took advantage of sexual tourism. To say the least, I find it shocking…”

Now Mr Mitterrand’s attempts to explain away his sickness dont ring true to me, if anyone can inform me if his account of gay French slang for each other is correct then Ill eat my hat…

“When the book was first published, Mitterrand, who was never a card-carrying member of the Socialist party, was asked about his use of the term “young boys”. He said that he called all men “boys” and that it had nothing to do with children.”

As this article makes clear, hed be an unusual chap to have gone there for an older male prostitute  with the incidence of AIDS relatively high in Thailand?

Who knows, maybe Mitterrand & Polanski could share a cell together so that ‘Bubba & Butch’ can play ride the pony or failing that, just beat the shit out of both of them on a daily basis.

Well, SAY something...
