Aussie flies

Something completely different now. Non-Aussies might have heard Australia is slightly bad for flies, Im trying a little 5 day experiment to show you just how bad.

Sheep for brains protester

Im a bit of a fan of fly traps, they work well and more to the point attract and kill the little suckers by the thousands. So Ive set one up at work outside the quarters, now remember theres nothing much around the minesite but bush for about 30km, so this is average bush area.

This may also be instructive for PETAtards who oppose mulesing sheep. Its not done for fun, but because sheep are literally eaten alive.

Fairly typical flystrike.

fly day 1 001

The basic setup, trap, water and piece of pork for bait.

More under the fold, you wont believe how quick it fills…

fly day 2 001

A few visitors already, the temp outside is in the low 30's. That black band is dead/drowned flies

fly day 2 002

More day 2, as you can see theres quite a few "customers" trying to get in.

Now its on to day 3, the bait is starting to reek and its party time for the flies.

fly day 3 001

Note the thickness of the dead fly strip...

fly day 3 002

Party time at the fly on in..

Bet you cant wait for day 4….. Video to come as well….

Where did you get the trap Mole? I’ve been looking for one of those for months, I’ve had to bodgy one up out of an old coke bottle instead.

And you foreigners, please consider, this is just 3 days. Its not even summer yet.

The ‘Australian Salute’ has nothing to do with the military, its merely a way to keep the flys from your face.

However I would encourage all Australians and anyone else who feels so inclined to join us in two minutes silence at 11 am tomorrow. Remembrance Day marks the end of ‘the war to end all wars’.

    On a mildly related note:

    Happy birthday to the USMC!

    Semper Fi.

I like bug zappers. You get the auditory ‘zap!’ feedback when a fly is fried. My love of technology, I guess, but I’d rather eat the pork than let flies have it.

Dear God! And I thought a couple of blue bottle in the summer were a nuisance. Now I see why the corks on strings around the hat were so common.
