More BER waste; MSM still missing the real story

Another day, and yet more stories on the momumental waste of taxpayer dollars that is Rudd and Gillard’s Building the Education Revolution.

Unfortunate but, that the MSM is still failing to see the guts of this story. That being 1) the tender process was an absolute joke. There’s no way, in the day or so it took the government to decide who built what, that tenders could have been properly assessed and not awarded on anything but price. 2) The scope of works wasn’t really a scope of works, ususally a detailed document containing at least 10 pages, often more. Instead, Rudd’s was a few achitects notes, barely half a page long. 3) In the private sector, if a builder makes an RFI (request for information), this is usually handed in a matter of days, yet in the government’s case, this would often take weeks or even months all the while as workers are being paid to do nothing. Part of this is because instead of the industry standard of one overseer to about ten projects, in Rudd’s case, it has been closer to a 1:100 ratio. 4) The unions have been making work hard on many a site.

C’mon MSM. Report this properly.

    Perhaps gillard & rudd could answer a few questions;

Why do BER projects not require a costed bill of quantities?

Why are builders able to bill the government for lost time (liquidated damages) as opposed to time extensions as is normal practice?

Why does the type G multi-purpose hall have structural steel running through a doorway?

Why does the type L multi-purpose hall have structural steel running through the windows?

When this fault was identified why did your department wait 60 days to respond and then say “build according to supplied plans”?

Can either of you two nuffies explain how you intend to get a Certificate of Occupancy on the above mentioned buildings when they do not meet compliance codes?

When you state that builders are ‘rorting’ the system why do you fail to mention it is the governments project managers who must approve accounts in the claim?

Gillard – you stated in an interview that all builders on BER projects were accredited when you knew that this requirement had been removed for these jobs, why did you lie on national television?

Gillard – you stated in an interview that all builders on BER projects have had working with children checks when you knew that this requirement had been removed for these jobs, again, why did you lie on national television?

They shouldbe so screwed over this phenominal wickfuttery as to be unelectable.

Just how much of what they touch has to turn to shit before people reasile they are just incompitent at anything other than being pre-selected?

    • Carpe Jugulum Says:

Mole, as a building professional these projects disgust me and i will never mention them on my CV.

The company i’m with now has 136 of these bits of shit to build (completion date is May 2013) and counting as the 3rd round of tenders is being awarded. They are a joke & an embarressment to any building professional.

      All cudos to Bings mole.

Carpe, have just seen these questions you have put up, and they are the very ones that the MSM should indeed be asking.
At the moment they have once more been distracted by Rudd’s spin following along like good little puppies on his so-called Health scheme which if they used their brains they would see it is just another ruse to get his hands on the GST that currently goes to the State Governments.

    • Carpe Jugulum Says:

      Afternoon Merilyn

I still can’t believe the lamestream media didn’t pick up on gillards quite blatant lie.
