Had a call letting me know a couple of my customers had abandoned their state house,I went around to see if any of my goods were still there.
I was there on Thursday about 1500, and the house was locked up, bailiff notices on the doors, all secure.
Friday morning I went to the house with the lady from the Department of Housing, I beat her by about 5 minutes and found the place had been broken into overnight. Empty houses in an underclass neighborhood are an open invitation to burgle.
I confirmed a bit of the gear was mine (barely worth retrieving) and left. I went back a bit later with my other half and the camera, I think its necessary to document why some of the “poor” should be left in the street as an example to others.
The rather inviting front...This place was occupied for only around 8 months, on average it takes Homeswest a good 3 months to "take back" an abandoned property. Side of the house.
There is a very large backlog of people looking to get into Homeswest housing (government), due to it being cheaper than normal rent, and generally more secure tenure.
Yet people are able to treat them like this and walk away, homeswest know its useless trying to get anything back, and also know that in a few years they will have the same tenants applying again, as various houses (all taken under different family members names) are wrecked and abandoned.
My fathers wife is Vietnamese, her opinion “They should be allowed to die”, harsh but bugger me, the indirect misery and cost these feral turds cause is enormous.
The Homeswest lady tells me the place might be ready for a new tenant in 2 weeks.. Id be surprised if it was that quick.
My son tried to make a purchase yesterday using my PayPal account. The payment was declined by PayPal.
Unfortunately, you’ve hit your initial PayPal sending limit of $10,000.00 USD. That’s why your recent payment was declined.Your sending limit is the maximum amount of money you can send or use for purchases before you need to become Verified. We place initial limits on all accounts to increase security and help prevent fraud. Once you link and confirm a bank account or get approved for PayPal credit, your account will be Verified and you’ll be able to make as many payments as you like with PayPal.
My reaction was complete incredulity. They were fine pushing my money through their service right up until, apparently, the moment I spenttoo much money? WTF?
I took a day to stew over how to handle it. Then I sent this reply.
Yesterday you rejected a payment on the premise that I have “exceeded my spending limit”. Let’s break this down logically, shall we? In order to exceed my limit – a completely arbitrary limit set by you – I had to pass $10K through your service. Since sellers who use your service kick back a substancial fee to you per transaction, that means you’ve made a great deal of money from transactions made by me and members of my family. But that’s not good enough for you. No. You insist that, in order to continue utilizing your service, I must provide you with my bank account information or use your credit card for future transactions.I’m not sure what it is that motivates this strong-arm action on your part. Is it greed? Control? What? All I know is that what you are demanding makes no rational sense to me.I will not provide you with my bank account information. Why would I do that, when you’re regular targets of hackers – particularly Anonymous hackers – who would be able to run wild with my financial information? Nor will I be coerced into using your credit card.I passed $10K through your system over the past several years. I will not pass one additional penny though it. Find someone else to strong-arm. I have other options that don’t involve being bullied by a service provider.
I don’t know which is more chilling – the reported news, or the headline.
Tennessee Becomes First State To Fight Terrorism Statewide
You’re probably used to seeing TSA’s signature blue uniforms at the airport, but now agents are hitting the interstates to fight terrorism with Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR).
“Where is a terrorist more apt to be found? Not these days on an airplane more likely on the interstate,” said Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons.
Tuesday Tennessee was first to deploy VIPR simultaneously at five weigh stations and two bus stations across the state.
Anyone harboring any illusion that 21st century American media is anything other than the propaganda organs of Big Government is delusional.
But enough criticism of the lapdog media’s fawning. What we have here is the dreaded “next step” in the so-called War on Terror.
Our rulers have moved beyond herding us about at airports. Now they want to slowly get us used to being spot searched on our highways. They start small, with truck inspections at weigh stations. And before you can say, “WTF! Fourth Amendment violation!”, it’ll be random traffic stops of ordinary folks in passenger vehicles.
As if another reason to hate the failed War on Drugs is needed, the power for state police to stop a motorist on the most minimal (or invented) probable cause is already in place, courtesy of “law and order” judges ruling in favor of police in the majority of random stop cases to “stem the flow of drugs”. I suppose our rulers figure that since the War on Drugs has been such a phenomenal success [/sarcasm], they might as well extend those benefits to the far more successful War on Terror personal freedoms.
Like the proverbial frog in a pot of water that is slowly brought to a boil, we sit in bovine stupor as our freedoms are stripped from us. As long as we have American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, and tons of televised sports, we’re content to pretend that we live in the “freest nation on Earth”.
You knew it was coming. After all, you can’t just kill Usama bin Laden and declare victory. Oh no. You have to milk the sumbitch for all it’s worth. Welcome to 2001, the sequel.
An advisory has been sent to law enforcement officials advising them to be vigilant about train security based on information uncovered after the death of Osama bin Laden, officials said.
Officials stressed the advisory is general in nature and the information apparently uncovered from the bin Laden compound dates back more than a year.
According to NBC News, U.S. officials say they have not found reference to specific plots. Instead, they say they’ve found what they call “aspirational” items — events al-Qaida operatives were interested in trying to make happen.
I see. So…we’re in a heightened state of alert and expected to endure God-knows-what in the name of “security” based on…al-Qaida’s wishlist????
Recently a long term customer took off leaving behind most of my stuff locked into her house, apparently she’s run up a lot of bills around town and is skipping to “start afresh”. Her sister was left with a load of lies (I’m back tomorrow/next day/next week etc) and the house keys.
She called up and allowed me access to retrieve my stuff. While we were there my other half took a load of “happy snaps”. The sister gave permission, she was as disgusted as us, she is currently on a waiting list for a Homeswest property but may be waiting months yet.
This is how a portion of the Australian underclass chooses to live.
Some of the pics are disgusting and might upset a few people, but this is reality.
The lady in question has 4 children under 10, there were 3 dogs (oldest one left behind) 4 cats as a rough estimate her income is around 1300 per fortnight of pension payments.
The house is public housing (Homeswest), who apparently carry out inspections of their properties. So this is a Western Australian government owned asset.
Tim Blair: One of my favourite leftist correspondents – he’s the frequent author of what Tony Windsor would describe as death threats – now finds himself under Liberal rule, probably for the first time in his life.
America has wound up with a charming leftist as a president. And this scares me. This scares me not because I hate leftists. I don’t. I have many charming leftist friends. They’re lovely people – as long as they keep their nose out of things they don’t understand. Such as making a living.
When charming leftists stick their nose into things they don’t understand they become ratchet-jawed purveyors of monkey-doodle and baked wind. They are piddlers upon merit, beggars at the door of accomplishment, thieves of livelihood, envy coddling tax lice applauding themselves for giving away other people’s money. They are the lap dogs of the poly sci-class, returning to the vomit of collectivism. They are pig herders tending that sow-who-eats-her-young, the welfare state. They are muck-dwelling bottom-feeders growing fat on the worries and disappointments of the electorate. They are the ditch carp of democracy.
Update: We ask our Australian readers to ‘Just Say No to Monkey-Doodle and Baked Wind’ by signing this petition (5000+ signatures so far and counting) sponsored by Menzies House. And if you’re on Twitter, please follow & support @MenziesHouse, @NoCarbonTax and Community Organiser par excellence@Tim_Andrews. Cheers.
Gee looks like both sides are hammering each other there eh?
Maybe the sub heading contains more info?
Pastor and five others shot in raids on churches while explosions 300 miles away claim 32 victims
Now If I were a casual reader Id assume the “pastor and 5 others” are the Christian casualties and the explosions were muslim, otherwise the headline is deceptive right?
Clashes broke out between armed Christian and Muslim groups near the central Nigerian city of Jos yesterday after Christmas Eve bombings in the region killed more than 30 people.
Strange, Christians bombing at Christmas time…?
The tensions are rooted in decades of resentment between indigenous groups, mostly Christian or animist, who are vying for control of fertile farmlands and for economic and political power with mostly Muslim migrants and settlers from the north.
Such a deliberate use of passive words, “migrants”, “settlers”, Still they must all be the same because they are all black, right Mr Guardian writer? If it was ANY white nationality “who are vying for control of fertile farmlands and for economic and political power with mostly white migrants and settlers from the north.” the Guardian would be calling it an invasion and colonialism.
Heres a hint Mr Guardian man, Not all “darkies” are the same, much the same as not all “whities”, “Slant eyes”, or “Curry munchers”.
Your soft racism is nothing of the sort, its just as vile as a neo-nazi knucklehead or KKK man, just expressed in neutral language.
In the north of the country, dozens of armed men attacked a church on Christmas Eve, dragging the pastor out of his home and shooting him dead along with two young choristers rehearsing for a late-night carol service.
“dozens of armed men”, any clue on what motivated this execution of a religious man? If the old South African regime had hauled out Desmond Tutu and shot him dead would they just have been “dozens of armed men” with nothing more said?
The group of about 30 attackers armed with guns and knives also killed two people who were passing by the Victory Baptist church in Maiduguri.
Ahhh, this must be the christian mob….
The assailants left after torching the church and pastor’s house.
Oh, maybe not….
Still Im sure there is some Christian violence mentioned, or the headline is a farce, surely?
At the other end of the city, Reverend Haskanda Jessu of the Church of Christ in Nigeria said three men attacked his church, killing a 60-year-old security guard.
Oh ok then….
Read the whole article at the top link, there is NOTHING like a clash, instead there is one group being repeatedly attacked by another, but in the world of a Guardian writer there is no identifying characteristic of the attacking group… Madness.
A google search with the terms Nigeria Christians attack, comes up with pages of attacks on Christians there, What group could possibly be involved?
Ellis wrote one of his signature ” dribble from the plonk bottle” articles regarding the loss of life on the asylum seekers boats, starting with a stream of urine conciousness series of oh so sad questions.
I answered them as I saw fit in comments which has brough a hilarious response from the old fraud.
Id like to expand on a few more points I’ve become aware of in my job as provider of goods to the “poor”.
I’ve long assumed at least pert of the reason poor people had trouble getting ahead was the lack of ability to purchase quality goods. After all no-one expects a lot from a $200.00 fridge. But a poorer person replacing a fridge every couple of years would be a considerable burden on their finances, preventing them from being able to purchase quality goods designed to last a decade or more.
I have been in places this bad before.
I don’t assume that anymore.
This is not a blanket statement, but probably correlates to somewhere around 50% of my clients.
They have no quality goods because they live like pigs.
Harsh? No way. Heres a few examples from the last few weeks.
$1400 Westinghouse fridge freezer, about 8 months old, found left on the verge for rubbish collection. It cost $600 to repair, the basic cause of the shorted out motherboard? Cockroaches.
I had to dismantle and reassemble every panel in the machine to kill the thousands of roaches living INSIDE the fridge.
Washing machine, $500.00reasonable brand, rooted within 3 months due to massive cockroach infestations shorting out the electrics again.
I went to a regional town to chase a lady for money (shes in jail, but that’s another story), her mother is a customer and asked if I could take a look at a CD player. I went in the house (its 9.00 in the morning), its filthy, it stinks of dope smoke ( the breakfast of champions) and I can see roaches wandering on the floor between the mattresses, piles of clothes and lounge chairs. The dogs have free run of the house and one of the kids obviously has scabies along an arm and shoulder.
I can’t find the fault with the stereo, so I ask the lady to bring it in next time she comes to town. (there’s a reason I ask her to bring it in). Today she brings it in, and as the boot of the car is popped I see hundreds of roaches which have come from the stereo and speakers in there. I just take the main stereo, and after she leaves spray/remove well over 100 cockroaches from the guts of the machine.
I have had 3 computers, all less than 6 months old returned jammed up with, you guessed it, cockroaches.
I have had to replace a main woofer for a Kenwood surround sound system, not roaches this time, but the wiring on the inside was corroded from rat faeces. They didn’t have a pet rat.. I have replaced a Wii at the same address from roaches as well.
Heres a few suggestions for our political masters.
1: Remove children immediately from these environments. Their parents may say they love them, but unless they meet certain minimum standards of cleanliness they are manifestly unfit.
2: Compulsory birth control for those deemed unfit to parent. If they want to rejoin society and meet certain minimum standards the birth control can be removed.
3: No more increases in spending on higher education until every child capable of doing so reads/writes, and understands basic budgeting and hygiene before they leave primary school.
4: People living in public housing are to be compelled, by whatever means, to meet minimum standards of hygiene.
The following outcomes could be expected.
1: Far fewer hospital admissions for filth caused illnesses.
2: Far fewer children born to those least likely to provide for them.
3: Far lower crime rate, from
A: Fewer children born into dysfunctional “families”
B: Far more people educated to be useful members of society.
4: Massively reduced welfare rolls, welfare should be a stopgap, not a life sentence.
It would take a politician with balls of steel to propose any of these things, the cries of “racism” from vested interest groups would be deafening. But i ask you what good is an advocacy group if it doesn’t tackle a parent who allows children to live in filth? That sees a child who dies from malnutrition and scabies (as witnessed by a copper mate of mine) , its nappy full of cockroaches, written off as a “cot death”?
Heres a story from a customer of mine. She described how bad the roaches were in her house. She was having trouble sleeping because whan she rolled over in bed she was crushing roaches in it with her.
She blamed this on “the roaches are bad here”, rather than the filth and degradation she and her kids were living in.
I’m angry this happens in my town, in my country. I can’t influence this in any way, I have written letters to Homeswest (the WA government department that supplies state housing) asking for sprays to be carried out in certain properties, and to their credit they have usually done so. But these properties are supposed to be inspected by the department, how can they turn a blind eye to drug abuse, filth, damage and vermin infestations of near biblical proportions?
How can children’s services leave kids in environments like this?
How can doctors and the health profession not speak about the filth caused admissions and illnesses which can be eradicated with basic hygiene?
The parents are responsible, if they are unfit then the children MUST be removed. Quite frankly I don’t care if they end up in racially segregated institutions to maintain cultural background, but they must be told their parents love drugs/drink/filth, more than they love their children. It’s the truth.
This man (and I use the term loosely indeed) is one of the worst scum ever to walk Western Australia’s streets. Over the years he has been convicted of over a dozen rapes and sexual assaults on women, children and men. The vast majority of his crimes have been committed while on probation and he has spent nearly half his life in jail. 30 years of rape and sexual assaults and he still walks the earth
With his prison tats obscured by makeup, he looks quite different.
He has worked out a “style” of attack now, he often targets the mentally ill, mentally handicapped or substance abusers. This serves 2 purposes.
A: They are probably least likely to report the assault
B: When they get to court his pond scum lawyers will claim the victims evidence isnt reliable. In effect he has been given a “pool” of people he can assault without fear of being caught.
Heres a TV special transcript on repeat offenders where he features heavily.
ROSS COULTHART: Former policeman Wayne Goodsell investigated Narkle for the attack on Grace 20 years ago. He has watched on in despair as Narkle has continually been released from jail, only to reoffend.
WAYNE GOODSELL, FORMER WA POLICE DETECTIVE: We are putting one person, his liberty, in front of two million people in Western Australia. Now, that doesn’t equate to me.
ROSS COULTHART: Because you’re that convinced he will offend again?
WAYNE GOODSELL: Absolutely. Have no questions whatsoever. Look me in the eye, I can assure you, he will offend again.
ROSS COULTHART: Within weeks of us interviewing Grace and Wayne Goodsell, new allegations were made against 50-year-old Narkle. In May, Gary Narkle was accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in the car park of a church, here in Armidale. He was also later charged with indecently assaulting a 46-year-old woman, in February.
……..
ROSS COULTHART: In WA, serial rapist Gary Narkle walked free last year because his 14th known victim declined to testify against him for a fourth time. Earlier this year, we met his first victim, the woman he raped 20 years ago.
‘GRACE’, RAPE VICTIM: I have no doubt in my mind that he will continue to get more and more violent and I’m terrified that one day that he will kill.
I have a personal interest in this case for a couple of reasons. Around 12 years ago I was working in the secure unit of WA major psychiatric hospital “graylands” I was there as part of the immigration departments duty of care to a detainee who had been committed. While there Mr Narkle was admitted having had a breakdown of some sort in Prison.
He looked just like his photos, hes tiny, wiry and wouldnt last long in a fight against anyone “normal” size.
By that stage I had been asked to “blend in” with the patients on the ward, as my uniform had made a few nervous, so I was by that stage being paid to wear civvies and read a book all day in the common room of the clinic. I may have blended in a little to well as on one occasion one of the staff offered me sedatives around medication time….
Anyway back to Narkle. He had been buzzing around the ward talking to various people when he sat down and began to talk to me. It was like looking into a maggot filled basin of brains.
He told me how “good little girls are”, how “they all loved it when he did them”, that “he could get any girl he liked”, and so on.
I have a habit of letting people continue talking when they start, regardless of what they are on about, its a good way of learning what makes people tick. But I could only stomach about 10 minutes of Narkle before I stood up over him and told him “If you dont fuck off away from me now Im going to knock you down and stamp your balls flat”, Narkle stopped talking and didnt come near me again. I sincerely regret having not done that rather than threatening the man, if I had done so it may have prevented a number of assaults on girls/women.
Heres the funny thing, within 2 days he had everyone, patients and staff hating him, even the mentally ill were disgusted by him.
I left Graylands before he was released back to prison but if I had to make an uneducated guess Id say his breakdown was he was saying exactly what he thought, with no lying.
In addition, when hes outside he often wears makeup to cover over his distinctive tattoos, and his victims are almost always smaller or less physically capable than him. Hes a true predator.
Fast forward to last year, Ive met my brothers new girlfriend for the second time and we are all on the piss at the pub. Narkle was in the news so I started on my graylands story, when my brother dug my ribs from behind as a hint to shut up.
It turns out his new lady had been raped by Narkle 20 odd years ago, in addition to the rape they jammed a stick up her, nearly killing her from the blood loss.
She spoke to me about it later on, and how it had wrecked her for a decade of self abuse and feelings of worthlessness.
Id like Mr Narkle to die. Not imprisoned, not on bail, not supervised. Id just like to see him not walking the earth anymore in any shape of form. Hes exactly the inspiration for a lynch mob.
PS: The sad thing is ive met his parents, they are as nice and respectable coulple as you could meet. How they were cursed with such a bad seed is beyond me.
Hes announced out of the blue that smokers will face a 25% increase in the price of cigarettes from midnight tonight. Mouthing all the usual platitudes about saving chiiildren it allows him a free kick at a group hes already driven outside, and tried to ban from smoking in their own cars.
I hate ciggies, they make my nose run and sneeze, but I hate do gooder wankers even more. No-one in Australia should be under the impression smoking is good for you, it costs a lot and it stinks. Everyone has been informed about that for decades. Please piss off and moralize somewhere else.
My Grandfather died of asbestos, he was a builder/carpenter in the bad old days. His death was listed as “due to smoking”, despite his lungs asbestos related degeneration. Every smoker who goes to hospital now can expect their every aliment traced back to smoking, no matter how tenuous the link. tobacco is a killer, so why inflate the figures even more?
I dont believe the official statistics anymore. The semi-government cancer council and various lobby groups exist to let the government look as though its community pressure driving the bansturbation and tax raising. That same increase in tax revenue helps fund ever more generous grants to these same “charities” to start all over again.
Unbiased bloke N#1: He is currently President of the Public Health Association of Australia, the Australian Council on Smoking and Health and the WA Heart Foundation, and Chair of the WA Alcohol and Drug Authority. He has played a leading role in tobacco control, alcohol and other public health issues nationally and internationally for many years, and has advised governments and NGOs in some thirty countries.
Unbiased lady N#1: has developed national cardiovascular health programs within Australia, has been extensively involved with cancer prevention programs and is regarded as an expert on tobacco control matters.
Worrying lady N#1: She has been an active environmentalist since the early 1980s and is particularly passionate about climate change. She was recently trained as a climate change presenter by former US Vice President Al Gore, who is training climate change presenters around the world as part of the Climate Project.
All in all a roundup of people of similar opinions, very “Yes Minister” collection.
Still it achieves Turdfingers objectives nicely.
A: Moves the news stories away from his stuff ups.
B: May move debate back to health, where he has a temporary advantage (since it will take a couple of years for his new stuff ups to unravel there)
C: Raises more money for him to hose up the nearest wall.
In addition to the massive increase in tax, there is a move to “plain package” cigarettes to remove the distinctiveness of various brands.
Australia would be the first country in the world to force cigarette companies to use plain packaging.
“From 2012, companies will only be allowed to print their brand name in a standard style and graphic health warnings will remain on the packets.”
I suggest he goes one step further and does this instead.
He took a cigarette from a crumpled packet marked VICTORY CIGARETTES and incautiously held it upright, whereupon the tobacco fell out on to the floor." Orwell.
One little problem, this is almost certainly not legal in any way. I dont have a huge amount of sympathy for the tobacco companies, as for some weird reason, defying all logic, they seemed to feel their previous concessions to the anti smoking lobby would appease them. What a surprise it hasnt, again.
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber barons cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. Their very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be cured against ones will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.
C. S. Lewis, God in the Dock”
More under the fold, including how its increasing profits for criminals.
What sort of wild mumbo-jumbo is this you ask? Let me explain my thinking on this.
At the moment there are 2 classes of employees, those who produce “capital” and those who redistribute and tax that capital.
That isnt to say most government workers arent performing a service, but that service is (in many cases) provided by imposing a cost on non government workers. By paying those employed by the government without removing tax from them it would make the true costs of government much more obvious.
It would deliberately separate the 2 classes of workers from each other, the tax payers and the tax eaters.
This would be a good thing and strengthen the legitimacy of may government employees. Few will dispute the nurse earning their salary of $50,000 per year tax fee. (there would be an overall wage drop to reflect lack of taxes). However it would make an army of non productive government workers much more nervous.
How much harder would it be to justify paying a ministerial researcher or spin doctor $100,000 when they lack the legitimacy to say “but I pay taxes too”?
That might start to see a more rational check on the growth of government than any other idea I can come up with. I want to see resentment and defensiveness from overpaid and overstaffed sections of the public service. I want people to be able to get angry at inefficient or poor service and shout “I pay your bloody wages”, most customers have the option of taking their business elsewhere in the private sector, the government doesnt have that competition.
I badly want public service bodies to feel under pressure to justify their payroll, and Id love that tax gobbling monster that is Canberra properly resented as the money sink it is.
Which brings me to my second point.
No voting without paying tax.
With a few exceptions (those who are disabled/unable to work), the voting franchise should be limited quite strictly to those who pay tax. This would prevent the cultivating of a “client class”, that section of society able to be brought at election by promising to take more from the “capital” class, to give to them. There is a reason most of our labor party hacks seem to spring from public service/unions…
Canberra and sections of most capital cities will never vote for less government as they are effectively dormitory suburbs of tax eaters. As such they tend to be well serviced, “model” sections of the community, a Potemkin village version of the real world.
Is this harsh, yup, but no harsher than digging ditches for a living and seeing 1/4 of it pay for an arts council member or ABC TV presenter.
There are the vast majority of public servants doing just that, providing a service. But Id be willing to bet most of them can point to useless “mouths” within their organisations, which, if they had to justify their position/wages, they couldnt.
So tell me, why should public servants/government employees pay taxes?
For anyone looking for a US (and far better version) of this rant, they could do far worse than this one, or even this one.
A lot of complaints from the “guardian” class of people seems to centre on the terrible exploitation of others by property owners who rent out houses. Theres also the same level of wailing about how expensive property has become due to investors buying up/renting out most of the cheaper housing stock.
I have a theory on this, and would invite anyone to pick it apart.
Most property investors are the “mum&dad” type, not educated enough or comfortable with either stocks, money managers or “exotic” schemes.
At the same time inflation, over 10 years, of around 2.5% per year sees them loosing around 35% of that “saved” money if they were to stick it under a mattress, or slightly (very slightly) less if they banked the money.
Heres the Wiki figures, tell me why (in the absence of a crash) you wouldnt invest in real estate in Australia?
So given cash goes backwards, most investments have an element of risk, lack of control or both where is an average person to invest their money? Housing in Australia is a rather large bubble waiting to burst, but the government isnt willing to risk deflating it anytime soon. A reflection of how much is tied up in housing can be seen by the devastation in America, where it was largely residential homes that triggered the financial crisis.
Australia treats property investment much different to nearly any other type. Live for a few years in a house and when you sell it, the profit is taxed at a massively lower rate than any similar item sold.
I blame the taxation system for the massive overinvestment and price bubble in Australia. The desire was good, more properties available for renters, more small investors, but it has become a monster.
Im not calling for a swathe of new taxes on housing though, but a realisation that the investment market is massively distorted by the taxes levied on every other type of “ordinary” investment. If, for example the government was to cease taxing bank deposits the “average” investor might begin to see that as an attractive and less risky proposition to investment housing. Again this might begin to distort the flow of money, but I think its time the housing bubble was deflated softly in Oz, rather than allowing the upwards spiral to continue.
The problem isnt “greedy investors” its the inevitable result of the government taxing most other “unsophisticated” investment options. If they were to lessen taxes on other investment options it might take a lot of the heat (and the huge risk building) out of the housing market.
A programme which attempts to place ex soldiers in work sent an enquiry to this company, Webeurope net design, received the following dismissal from the walking excrement that is its owner.
Winn, a former social worker, replied: “Personally, I’d rather recruit ex-drug dealers, convicts and even child molesters rather than consider anybody who has been in the pay of the British Government
“Anybody who has been in the pay of such a military force, and by their silence and complicity has condoned such illegal and immoral actions while accepting a monthly blood-stained pay-packet, certainly will not be considered for employment by us!
“Please remove us from your email list. Regards, Karl.”
After the sentient turd saw how this might blow up he attempted to clarify the matter, by blaming it on someone else,
Winn tried to deny he wrote the email when The Sun first challenged him. He blamed a “disgruntled” worker he sacked, who had managed to hack into his personal email.
But confronted by further emails between him and the FRS he caved in and admitted he had written them – but refused to apologise.
So he used the truth as the last resort, how….something of him.
“Ex-pedophiles and drug addicts who have been charged and paid the price for their actions deserve a chance to get on with their lives. In my opinion, military personnel who have got away with murder do not,” he said.
“I will therefore continue with my blanket ban on employing ex-military personnel. I understand this will affect innocent as well as guilty people.”
Mind you hes not hiding it anymore, heres from his own business website.
Karl Winn, Webeurope’s founder and principal owner, has for many years supported numerous organisations (NGO’s), such organisations include: –
Film Makers Against War – FAW seeks to educate and raise awareness of UK and international war law
Art and Sacred Places – Encourages the interaction of art and religion by commissioning artists to make work in sacred places.
Relatives for Justice – A northern Ireland based organisation that supports and campaigns on behalf of the families of the 367 men, women, and children, who have been killed by members of the British Military and Police services. The campaign seeks to bring the perpetrators of such killings before the courts.
Now far from being vindictive Im merely going to post this fellows business details in an attempt to drum up more business for him. Let it not be said Im encouraging anyone to spam his inbox with pictures of white feathers, much like the ones under the fold….
Australia has a 2 tier work system as far as employees go. For those who dont know much of the mining industry works on fly in/fly out basis. That is employees are flown from major cities to remote locations, stay there for a few weeks (rosters vary widely, from week on week off to much longer.
The system was originally started to service genuinely remote regions without existing towns nearby, before then companies would actually build towns from scratch if they needed to.
The town I live in is a mining town built to service gold and nickel deposits in the area. The system of fi/fo was great in that it let companies get away with building donga style accommodation which allowed greater profits to be made. However the cheaper option is now coming back to bite them on the bum.
AMID the red dust and muggy heat of Karratha, the mood is poisonous. It’s the locals versus the FIFOs – or the “bumblebees”, as the multitudes of yellow-shirted, fly-in fly-out resources industry workers are known
I prefer to call them blowflies, they fly in, take the money, they piss off again.
Just how fucking retarded are the fucktards over at MoveOn.disorganization? Welp, back in 2004 they made up an ad to “speak dipshitese to power” and protest W’s $1 trillion debt. It was supposed to air during the Superbowl, but it was rejected. Thanks to the modern miracle that is YouTube, though, it lives on.
“After building a true budget baseline, the sobering result shows ten-year deficits of $13 trillion. The annual budget deficit never falls below $1 trillion. By 2019, the debt is projected at $22 trillion, or 98 percent of GDP.”
If they haven’t already made the ad up, well, then they are scum-sucking, maggot-out-of-hell, lying hypocrites… but we knew that already, didn’t we?
I’m thinking of starting a solo blog called, “People Who Are Excrement” or “People Who Are Shit.” I can’t decide which I like better. In any event, leftard shyster-politician Martha Coakley would easily make it onto my as yet fictional blog, because she is certainly a person who is shit by every measure of a human being. In a radio interview t’other day, she actually said, “You can have your religious freedom, but you probably shouldn’t work in an emergency room.” This in response to a birth control/induced abortion question.
Take a listen to this amoral mutt.
This POS – Hey, “POS People” might be a good title! – is, running for “Ted Kennedy’s seat” in Massachusetts. Yeah, yeah, I’m a Texan, but I went to college in Boston, so I am watching this race with some interest, and besides, it really does have national implications. Massachusetts is so blue that red blood corpuscles are practically illegal there, so this should be a cake walk for any Phlegmocrap candidate, but Coakley is so shit-suckingly bad a candidate that her Republican challenger, Scott Brown, actually has a snowball’s chance in hell of winning.
Coakley is no newcomer to my Shit List either; she’s been a scum-sucking, maggot-out-of-hell shyster for her entire shitastic career. The article is impossible to exerpt, so you’ll have to read the whole enchilada, but it concludes thusly:
“If the sound of ghostly laughter is heard in Massachusetts these days as this campaign rolls on, with Martha Coakley self-portrayed as the guardian of justice and civil liberties, there is good reason.”
Martha Coakley is a person who is shit, and has been shit all of her life by all accounts. Will she win? Probably, because I’ve met hundreds of “the voters of Massachusetts,” and they ain’t any too smart.
They could be scared into voting for the bitch by her goon squad though. Watch as Coakley operative and Obama appointee Michael Meehan shoves reporter John McCormack to the ground for asking Coakley an inconvenient question.
Here’s the still:
The whore is supposed to be an Attorney General. She witnessed a crime. Will she testify against this Meehan Piece Of Shit? Don’t bet on it, because he’s a leftard fellow traveller.
Is this really the kind of shit you want representing you in the United States Senate, Massachusetts? I must sadly admit that I think it is, because I lived for several years in a condo in the 100 block of Beacon Street, and I’ve never met so many head-up-ass leftards as during that time.
Surprise me, Massachusetts: Elect Scott Brown instead of this Coakley turd.
This article is so backwards it lowers your IQ looking at it.
Nevertheless its begging for a world class Fisking.
Hello, my skull smells funny, I think the contents have reached their expiry date.
First the CV of the wibbling wuckwit who wrote this trash. See if you can play PC bingo.
Nancy Graham Holm was educated at the University of California, Berkeley and London School of Economics. She was a television journalist between 1972 and 1991 and has won many awards including three Emmys. She became a journalism educator in 1991 at the national school of journalism in Aarhus, Denmark. She retired from teaching in 2007. She is writing a book on feminism in the Abraham religions, including the “gender jihad” among Muslim women world-wide
Of course she is….
The originals.
Prejudiced Danes provoke fanaticism
On New Year’s Day, Kurt Westergaardand his granddaughter came close to losing their lives when an axe-wielding fanatic forced his way into their house. It was the latest in a string of attempted attacks that can be traced directly to the offence caused by Westergaard’s cartoons for Danish newspaperJyllands-Posten in 2005.
Incorrect, the attacks can be traced directly to an intolerant mediaeval mindset of a group of people who live their life based on a desert survival guide written by a madman with a “holy mole“.
The missus finally made me watch twilight last week. I know the last thing the world needs is another post on the all embracing suck that is twilight, but here goes anyway.
This is a very simple but highly effective video presentation that demonstrates just how silly the – fake, manufactured, bogus, bullshit: pick a pejorative adjective – “hockey stick” really is. In a nutshell, even if the “hockey stick” wasn’t a lie concocted by climate pseudo-scientists hiding political and financial agendas, it doesn’t even amount to a significant statistical blip when viewed in the context of the earth’s climate history, which had many much warmer periods before the advent of human civilization.
I don’t call the warm-mongers “climo-tards” for nothing: They are utterly ignorant and vacuous tools, lead by a lying shyster who has a larger personal “carbon footprint” than many undeveloped nations, and who has made himself nearly a billionaire peddling these lies to the gullible brainless. Global warming isn’t a religion – I hate it when people say it is – rather, it is a superstition akin to believing, “if you step on a crack, you’ll break your mother’s back.”
Rupert. He’ll kill a Golden Age of media if he starts charging for every one of his rags on the Net.
Couldn’t be worse timing with Copenhagen coming up.
It’ll kill blogging and the way media is accessed nowadays. Paying a fee to access every one of Rupes’ rags? Let alone all the others? You’re talking thousands upon thousands of dollars per person if he intends to go on regular newspaper prices – or even a fraction of. And as a blogger, who cares if you do pay that fee?… Not as if all the readers will have.
In an age of unprecedented global connectivity among people, Rupert is essentially advocating a return to the one rag state of affairs.
And that’d be a real shame… Next up, bus crash in India kills 23. Hint: That’s what journo’s used to do if there was space to fill, but no story. Who’d know? Who’d be none the wiser? Tizona’s older readers would know about this. Tizona’s younger readers should.
Yes, they’d just make it up, and nobody would be the wiser. How could they be? But everyone trusted the media, and dutifully bought their paper (singular) every day.
See the dilemma? Rupert does. But what he’s advocating is a return to the old. Which, yes, appeals to the conservative side in folks. Eek, progressive media?!
Confused? You’re meant to be.
Old timers, it’s no use applying the old rules and saying you’ll gladly pay a subscription fee to the likes of Andrew Bolt. Newtimers, it’s no use saying you want global action when all that really means is a loss of the freedoms you might not be fully aware that you have.
Pay directly for every link you click? It’ll stuff linking. It’ll stuff the free exchange of information. It’ll stuff what is freedom in the modern world.
Besides, the millions of links bloggers working for free (or for nominal sums) sending traffic to Rupert over the years? The millions of comments? What? That doesn’t matter? That counts for nothing?
And regardless, we already do pay for every link we click. Did you get your Internet connection for free? Do you get your download limit for free?
(psst, by the way, it’s unlimited downloads and uploads in Korea, up to 5MB/second [alas, usually only around 700 kB/second]… Internet and satellite TV with hundreds of channels is about $50/month…shhh)
Rupert is stuck in the past.
It is, and was, not a good thing that Brisbane, my home town, has/had only one major daily rag. Thank goodness (and certainly not Al Gore) for the Internet.
In an age highlighted by the MSM’s complicit suppression of Climategate, where will we stand, post a “successful” Copenhagen cahoot, if, effectively, our access to news and media is, effectively, stifled?
