Chastity “Chaz” Bono to Change Gender

Well, I guess it’s merciful that Sonny didn’t live to see this.

“Cher is about to get a new son.

Chastity Bono, the celebrity offspring of the singer and late husband Sonny Bono, is changing gender from female to male, her publicist told the Daily News on Thursday.
The 40-year-old, known to family and friends as Chaz, came out as a lesbian nearly two decades ago. Bono intends to make the transition from woman to man, publicist Howard Bragman said.

“Chaz, after many years of consideration, has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity,” Bragman said.”

Some of the comments are hilarious, with one calling the operation an “addadicktome” and another calling this a “pipe dream.”

It’s beyond despicable that our culture celebrates these freaks who can’t even come to terms with themselves as God made them. When I was a boy, my parents loved the Sonny and Cher variety show, so I remember Chastity as a cute little girl. Beyond sad, tragic and pathetic.

When it comes to our Leftist elitists, one can even be respectfully raped.

    Utter insanity.

Are you two in trouble. Just wait until Zoe gets word of this. Zoe being…

    A. A Conservative
    B. A rocket scientist.
    C. A Male to female transexual.
    D. Well read in transexual and intersexual matters.

She also has a wife, fathered (as in sired) a son, and is Australian. Through the coming days just remember, you brought it on yourselves.

Rather than being confrontational… can we have a reasonable discussion here?

One that’s likely to involve medicine, biology, theology, ethics, exegesis of scripture…

My starter for ten : this article by Tim Blair. That’s to show you where I’m coming from.

It will be nice discussing with and hopefully informing some rational people for a change. And anyone who links to PACO Enterprises is a kindred spirit.

I’m not out to convince, or to tell you what to think. I am out to inform, so you can make up your own mind from an informed perspective.

And as there’s a ginormous credibility gap to be overcome lest I be seen as just another peddler of fashionable nonsense and Moonbattery, it’s up to me to provide the extraordinary evidence that extraordinary claims require. Feel free to ask questions.

Let’s start with a presentation recently given by Professor Ecker, MD, at the American Psychiatric Association.

My thesis – which I’ll expect you to require me to prove – is that Chaz is a guy. Always was. But some guys are born looking female. And only about 1 in 3 of those, those born with 5ARD or 17BHDD syndromes, get a natural “sex change”. The rest have to do what Chaz is doing.

      Hi Zoe,

Shit. We’ve inadvertently opened up a can of worms. And here we were just attacking Lefties, from every angle we can conceive.

We’re just normal yet touched folks here. I feel like an asshole saying this, but you don’t have to prove shit to anyone.

It’s just that to us fucked up drunkards, it’s weird that a dude would turn into a chick, or vice versa.

Anyway, the chip on my shoulder is I have a journo degree. In a newspaper, stuff is written at an eighth-grade level.

I feel like Letterman vs Palin here, but it’d be really cool if you wrote a guest post, but at a simpleton level.

In Korea, say if a car cuts in front of you, the driver will put on the hazard lights. This means, “thank you and sorry”.

    • bingbing Says:

PS Tim likes you so there’s no credibility gap.

But Tizona is it’s own blog so the offer to post still stands.

Question: Is what Cher’s kid doing, is it natural, unavoidable, DNA-type stuff or is it more of a consequence of a fucked up childhood and some kind of psychological mess manifesting?

I’m probably digging a hole, but when I hear about stuff such that teenage girl winning a court order to have her breasts removed, well, to put it mildly, it sounds alarm bells, not least with current Western judiciary systems, which are intrinsically linked to that vague behemoth, the Left.

Thanks for the invite – I’ll take you op on it, if I may, in the next few days.

It’s just that to us fucked up drunkards, it’s weird that a dude would turn into a chick, or vice versa.

You think it’s weird for You? … It’s a heck of a lot weirder when you’re the one who’s doing it.

Though that’s simplifying : the evidence is that the gender you’re born with is immutable. It’s just that it may not match your appearance.

For those who are not strongly gendered, they can live with the mismatch, with increasing discomfort over time. For those who are very strongly gendered, they won’t make it past 30 without doing something about it.

Question: Is what Cher’s kid doing, is it natural, unavoidable, DNA-type stuff or is it more of a consequence of a fucked up childhood and some kind of psychological mess manifesting?

DNA only changes the odds – it’s more like Spina Bifida, Cleft Palate etc, where although genes can make those conditions somewhat more or less likely, sometimes it just happens. And just as Thalidomide caused developmental anomalies, so can some drugs that used to be used as anti-miscarriage protection, notably DES. 1 in 5 46xy (male, usually) foetusses exposed to DES in the first trimester ended up with transsexuality or another intersex condition.
But just as Thalidomide didn’t cause all such anomalies, neither did DES.

Many TS people have “fucked up childhoods”, but so do many other kids with congenital anomalies. In summary:

“Solid evidence for the importance of postnatal social factors is lacking.”

That’s from “Sexual differentiation of the human brain: relevance for gender identity, transsexualism and sexual orientation”. Swaab Gynecol Endocrinol (2004) 19:301–312.

And is a fancy way of saying that while there’s lots of beliefs out there about upbringing, when you look at the facts there’s no “there” there. Upbringing has no measurable effect.

Now this is a really bad over-simplification, but to give a significantly more accurate picture, I’d have to talk about neural morphology, BSTc layer in the hypothalamus, lymbic system activation, grey matter proportion in the right putamen… oh yes, and bimodal rather than binary distribution of traits. Biologically, talking about “male” and “female” is like trying to divide people into Tall Blacks and Short Yellows. An approximation.

So I’ll just say “male brain in female body or the reverse”. It’s more accurate than not.

    Thanks, Zoe.

Thalidomide. Reminds me of a line in this song.

Anyway, back to Ministry of Sound… in a tic.

So it’s DNA. How did Sonny and Cher manage that?

I’m really trying not to be confrontational and am really not trying to be an asshole but I’m an expert at both.

Shit. I’m conversing with a rocket scientist. I am so buying a pair of all stars come Monday (if my bank account wasn’t cleaned out over the weekend).

Nilk will take care of ur guest post. She’s pretty much the boss. Our boss boss has been relegated to goddess status.

Anyway, so basically, it’s DNA when it comes to chaz?

    • Zoe Brain Says:

Not DNA so much as environment in the womb. But congenital, before birth, yes. Biological.

Some gene sequences – ones found in large proportions of the population – can make it more or less likely.

      See:

Androgen Receptor Repeat Length Polymorphism Associated with Male-to-Female Transsexualism by Hare at al Biological Psychiatry Volume 65, Issue 1, Pages 93-96 (1 January 2009)

A polymorphism of the CYP17 gene related to sex steroid metabolism is associated with female-to-male but not male-to-female transsexualism by Bentz et al Fertility and Sterility , Volume 90 , Issue 1 , Pages 56 – 59

There is no “autism gene” or “transsexual gene” or “phocomelia gene”. There are genes that increase the chances significantly, allowing anomalous environmental factors (such as administration of Thalidomide or DES) to trigger the syndrome. And sometimes, it just happens, with no obvious environmental stimulus.

    • bingbing Says:

Not DNA so much as environment in the womb.

It’s ironic. Was watching a thing on Discovery today. Human body in numbers or something like that and it mentioned how many pints of water a pregnant woman drinks to keep the fluid in the womb clean… considering after eight weeks the kidney is functioning and the kid is peeing.

  6. mythusmage Says:

One thing I learned from Zoe is that it can happen to any type of person. Politics, religion, sexual orientation doesn’t matter. So long as the right combination of events occur, anybody can have it happen. So if the odds are one out of a billion, that means there are at least 6 people like that in the world.

what is with the leftist stuff? sonny was republican, n’est pas?

Well, SAY something...
