Acknowledging the obvious (sort of)

Lapdog MediaSometimes something is so apparent that even Big Media (the BM for short) has to acknowledge it. Okay, so in this case it’s ex-BM. But it still stands as acknowledged.

Several veteran and prize-winning journalists who covered presidents from John F. Kennedy to George W. Bush say that the current crop of White House correspondents are too timid and deferential and have played a role in killing the impact of presidential news conferences.

Unfortunately, what DIDN’T get acknowledged is the lapdog deference the press corp has for Il Duce.  I guess you can’t have everything…

The BM’istas try to create the illusion that the deference shown Il Duce was also extended to King George the Dim.

“If you watch an Obama news conference, and watched a Bush news conference previous to that, where correspondents sit in their seats with their hands folded on their laps, [it’s] as if they are in the room with a monarch and they have to wait to be recognized by the president,” says Sid Davis, the former NBC Washington bureau chief who covered nine presidents. “It looks like they are watching a funeral service at [Washington funeral firm] Joseph Gawler’s and it shouldn’t be that way.”

Nothing could be further from the truth. Bush was treated with a hostility previously reserved for Richard Nixon by the BM during his 8 hapless years in office.

I have no love for George Bush. But let’s tell a straight story, shall we? The deference issue is specific to Obama. Period.

It remains to be seen if the White House press corps’ behavior will change [/sarcasm].

The truth is, the only thing that will make the White House press corps return to a position of asking tough questions and being confrontational is a change of president.

Hahaha.

Tim Blair: One of my favourite leftist correspondents – he’s the frequent author of what Tony Windsor would describe as death threats – now finds himself under Liberal rule, probably for the first time in his life.

Suck it, Ricky.

Obama on the 2nd Amendment

the Madsen Machine gun (short barreled)

That looks loud.

In the past, Obama’s position on the second amendment has been less than ideal.

While the Obama administration hasn’t mentioned the Second Amendment by name, it seems he may have recently had a change of opinion.

The new opinion takes the much more hardcore view that because the authority of a government is derived from the consent of the governed then owning guns is important as sometimes it is necessary to use arms to assert that consent (or lack thereof) and overthrow a government.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton confirmed for the first time in London that the United Nations resolution did allow for the ”legitimate transfer of arms” to rebels if a nation chose to do so.

”Our interpretation of 1973 amended is that it overrode the absolute prohibition of arms to anyone in Libya … so there could be legitimate transfer of arms if a country chose to do that. We have not made that decision at this time,” she said.

Not even a mention of any plans to do background checks for the new owners!

I know, I know. You might be skeptical. But we also know that his administration allowed known gunrunners to transport thousands of guns into Mexico.  Granted, allowing guns to Mexican drug gangs instead of the law abiding seems like a questionable idea.

I suppose that arming people in other countries might be the first step to acknowledging that people in his own country aren’t “bitter clingers.”

A Very Brief Note

Every day of my life has been a living hell for the past few weeks, and I have a series of posts coming that will explain that. It’s about getting revenge on unscrupulous lawyers. I think you will like it.

I miss you guys and gals.

A Brief Message

I apologize for not being around for a while, but there are no manuals on how to deal with an elderly parent who is suffering from age-related dementia. I much prefer problems that have manuals to guide me through the process, as figuring things out for myself is time consuming… because I’m not as smart or wise as I’d like to be.

Nice to see things are hopping here, and as soon as I’m able – and feel like it – I’ll be back with all of my friends. I’m posting this now because I have made some progress, but the past couple of months have been a thankless grind.

One step at a time. That is my mantra.

God bless.

Red hot cougars on the prowl….

Quick call the Whhhaaaambulance! A mock ad for NZ airlines has a few of the easily offended brigade up in arms.

The ad is a mock nature documentary on “cougars” , those near mythical ladies of a certain age who’s prey is younger blokes.

The offence is at how the ladies are portrayed as “on the hunt”, but funnily enough no complaint about how the blokes are portrayed as “monkey men”, huddled in a group and scratching in a simian fashion.

Anyway heres the ad, I think its funny myself.

Oh and for those offended, I hope you can produce your offended letters you wrote to this show as well….

I Have Removed Little Green Footballs from Our Blogroll

Much of the right side of the blogosphere is talking about this story today.

Yesterday, Kilgore Trout, Charles Johnson’s enforcer moderator, decided it would be a good idea to go over to Hot Air and post racist comments to see if they would be moderated out or not. He did this in the wee hours of the morning, while Allahpundit and Ed were, you know, sleeping, so of course the mess wasn’t cleaned up right away. Duh, right? Erm, no.

Charred Johnson claims he didn’t send Kilgore on this fool’s errand, and I believe him, but neither did Charles stop him when he telegraphed his intentions much earlier. Not only that, but Charred didn’t fire Kilgore for shitting in his neighbor’s living room in the middle of the night either. Of course, Charred will ban anyone who questions him on the least of anything these days, but evidently, extremism in promoting an LGF agenda is no vice (Apologies to Barry Goldwater). To top it all off, the conventional stupidity at LGF is that the delay was some sort of proof that Hot Air tolerates racism.

I_shit_you_not.

Unfortunately, Ed overreacted and now one can’t even refer to Michelle “The Klingon” Obama as a Wookie at Hot Air. Don’t worry, you still have Tizona, because we’re racists. Just ask Charred or Kilgore.

At this point, you’re probably wondering why no links… or not. I’m really pissed at Little Green Snotballs, so I won’t link to them, and I’m not a fan of how deeply Hot Air caved either, so I’ll just send you to a third party, Ace of Spades HQ. In the comments, if you dig deep enough, are screen captures of the filth that Kilgore was spewing. I must admit, however, that aside from the n-bombs, much of that would pass me in the comment approval process here at Tizona. We’re a First Amendment site, and I’ll approve almost anything if it’s funny, whether I agree with it or not. I’ll also delete annoying and unfunny drivel even if it supports my posts. See how that works? If you’re a leftard, just be entertaining and I’ll approve your comments!

Anyway, LGF was fun four or five years back, but Charred and Killer have banned about 1,500 people now, so all of the funny and smart commenters, like me, are now banned and all that is left are the sycophants who bow to the Almighty Charred and see creationists around every corner and racists under every rock. I’ve simply had enough.

Well, since D won’t get off his worn butt (ummm, that’s just an expression) and post about my nephew…

Let me guess, D. You’re tired. Well boo hoo hoo. I deal with Koreans every day (Korean girls is tops, though).

Anyhoo, in his utter laziness, D has been meaning to mention son #2. Son #2 has emerged a strong specimen. Without argument, more handsome, bigger, and stronger (just as bing is compared to his older brother).

I’ll get back to you about smarter…

Now don’t get me wrong. #1 nephew, lets call him X, is the bee’s knees, and could well surpass D in the best big bro department…

Let’s put it this way. The VRWC has one more conspirator.

Because of a huge recent influx of vile comments from the same deranged idiot (Richard Ryan, who usually  uses IPs in the Telstra/Dodo 58.163.13x.xxx and 149.135.11x.xxx ranges but has since expanded his IP ranges), I thought it prudent to continue documenting the worst of them in one place.  To keep the pages from taking ages to load, I’ve divided them into sections.

So, here are a few select highlights of the hundreds received thus far.  Not reprinted are those pre-July ’08, before we realized what a persistent, obsessive madman he would turn out to be, or the many that Tim Blair, Andrew Bolt and others continually have to delete from their blogs (both are aware of the stalking that’s been going on for almost a year now and the games Ryan plays, including impersonating a “normal” commenter (often myself) and complaining about “that awful Richard Ryan” among other weird things in an attempt to get published – who knows how the insane mind works…).

I would ask that if any of my fellow editors see any more like these in our comment/spam queue, either send me a screencap (press “Ctrl” and “PrtSc” simultaneously to put it on your clipboard, paste it into a graphics program and save as a .jpg)  – I’m collecting them in case things get even more out of hand, i.e. especially if he succeeds in finding me “in real life,”  as it appears attempts have already been made in that direction.  Thanks.

Just FYI, the comments referring to cancer are aimed at the fact that he knows that yes, I have been ill, and no, I am not interested in blogging on it just now, preferring in my case to keep the Internet a CFZ (cancer-free zone).   The comments referring to “Ash” refer to our main blog administrator, who tragically died in a car accident in January ’09.

Oh, and you can click on the .jpg clips to see them full-size in a new window.  Behold the Leftard maniac in all his vileness.

Follow-up to previous post about Ash [UPDATED – details of funeral service]

Just as a follow-up to Angus Dei’s recent post about the sudden loss of our administrator Ash,  following is the Death Notice published in yesterday’s Melbourne Herald Sun, and some items from the early [UPDATE: and follow-up]  news reports of the single-car accident in Ferny Creek.

The Age, January 15 2009:

The badly burnt body of a motorist was found in a car after it veered off a tourist road in the Yarra Valley and landed ablaze in a driveway this morning.

Shocked neighbours called 000 when they saw the car in flames in the driveway of a Ferny Creek home in the Dandenongs.

The driver of the car was killed after the vehicle ran off the windy Mount Dandenong Tourist Road about 10.45am, hit a tree, dropped down an embankment and began burning in the driveway.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the property’s owners weren’t at home at the time and neighbours called emergency services to the scene.
The body has not yet been able to be identified.

Herald Sun, January 15 2009:

One person, believed to be a woman, was killed after her car apparently left the Mount Dandenong Tourist Road at Ferny Creek, in the Dandenong Ranges, south east of Melbourne, and hit a tree shortly before 10.45am.

Emergency services said the car then went down an embankment, ending up in a residential driveway before bursting into flames.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Leeanne Clinton said the motorist was the only person in the car but it was not yet known whether they died as a result of the crash or the car fire.

Springvale Dandenong Leader, January 15 2009:

[A] 22-year-old woman died in a single-vehicle accident on the Mt Dandenong Rd, Ferny Creek […]

[T]he 22-year-old Selby woman was driving west along the Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd at 10.40am when her car swerved off the road about 300m west of Churchill Drive.

The white Mitsubishi Lancer landed on a nearby driveway after careering down an embankment.

A neighbour heard the accident and alerted 000.

Monbulk Sgt Alan Fincher said when the neighbour got to the car it was engulfed in flames and they couldn’t go near it.

Sgt Fincher said investigators were yet to determine what caused the car to veer off the road.

UPDATE:  From the Maroondah Journal, via Kae.

THE death of a 21-year-old woman in Ferny Creek last week has sparked renewed calls for a guard rail along a “dangerous bend”.

Ashleigh Emery, of Selby, died when the car she was driving crashed into a tree on Mt Dandenong Tourist Road, rolled down an embankment onto a driveway and caught fire about 10.45am last Thursday.

Resident Ed Bright, who lives next door to where the car crashed, has been trying to get guard rails installed for years.

Mr Bright’s wife Lynette and daughter Courtney were home at the time of the crash.

“We just heard this massive explosion and noise, unlike anything we’ve heard.

“I went running out and Courtney went straight for the phone. I was screaming, ‘Is there anybody there?’ because I was thinking the driver must have been somewhere.”

Sergeant Alan Fincher of Monbulk police, who attended the scene, said: “The car had caught fire and there was just nothing anyone could do.”

The Tizona Group has Lost a Precious Member

We of the administrative and editorial group at Tizona have suffered a tragic and devastating loss, as our administrator, Ash, was killed in a single vehicle accident. However, our loss pales next to that of her family, and our thoughts and prayers are with them all.

Ashleah was only twenty-two years old.

Ash was invited into The Tizona Group by the founder of our blog, and she was always a bit of a mystery to me, as she was to the rest of the administrative group. I don’t believe any of us ever actually met her personally, though some did speak to her by telephone, and we all had email exchanges with her from time to time.

As for myself, since I live in the US and Ash was Australian, these email conversations were often at very strange hours, which was a treat for me as I keep a bizarre musician’s schedule. Ash always struck me as very intelligent and well informed – quite remarkably so given her tender years – and it was always a distinct pleasure to correspond with her.

Though she leaves several unsolvable mysteries in her wake, one thing that was no mystery was the invaluable nature of her contribution to our weblog. I called Ash, “the enforcer” because she was such a dogged and tireless patroller of our reader comment sections, and she also brought a valued woman’s perspective to questions regarding the direction of our efforts. Plus, if any of us knot-headed editors forgot things like tagging posts, she always caught and fixed the errors and oversights… followed by an email admonishment, of course.

To say that Ash will be missed around here is an unfathomable understatement, but there are no words to adequately express how much of a void she and her work will leave at The Tizona Group. Nor are there any words that could properly express the profound sadness of we of the administrative group over this incomprehensible tragedy.

If you would like to pay your respects or post remembrances of Ash in the comments section, please do, but keep in mind that we will be sending this thread to her parents, so any and all offensive posts will be deleted.

In lieu of words, I simply offer a recording I made of Tears in the Rain by Joe Satriani.

Rest in Peace and Godspeed, Ashleah.
